"They're probably just showing off. The car must be borrowed, right? It's all smashed up; can they even afford to pay for it?"
"Even if it is borrowed, being able to borrow such a car means they're not just ordinary folks."

Some envied, some doubted, some ridiculed, but the overriding tone was unmistakably sour.
No one here recognized them because the four big families were extremely low-profile in the capital, so low-profile that they were mysterious.
