Despite feeling a mix of panic and distress, Gu Qibao straightened up slightly, "What do you think could be between the Duke and me?"
Gu Qibao's counterquestion took Bo Chengxin aback. Could it really be nothing?
If there was really nothing, why, when she phoned Di Mingjue that day, did he tell her not to inquire too much about his affairs?
In the following days, when she approached Di Mingjue, he did not mention a word. He had already told her not to probe too deeply, so she dared not ask anymore. However, she felt that something seemed to have changed.
She was terrified, deeply threatened by this elusive change. Consequently, she left her seat to question Gu Qibao.
"Are you absolutely sure there's nothing?" Bo Chengxin asked, trying to ascertain the facts.
"Yes." Gu Qibao nodded and churned out a lie, "Honestly, there's nothing. I just got drunk that day. The Duke helped me go and rest. I threw up and he helped me clean up."
Bo Chengxin's countenance instantly blanched on hearing Gu Qibao's words. If it were that simple, why didn't Di Mingjue let her know, even forbidding her to ask?
She threw up, and he helped her clean up? How did he help her clean up?
She remembered very well that Di Mingjue was an extreme clean freak, so he would have definitely directed his subordinates to do this task. Why would he personally help Gu Qibao?
A sudden pang in her heart made Bo Chengxin cover her chest. Di Mingjue had never bent over backward to do such a thing for her; he always delegated such tasks to his servants.
"Xinxin, what's wrong?" Concern was plainly visible in Bo Chengyan's eyes as he hurriedly inspected her condition.
"I'm fine." Bo Chengxin shook her head, her voice so feeble that it seemed like she was about to faint.
She looked up at Gu Qibao, who seemed even paler than her, and then smirked dismissively. "Well, as long as nothing is happening between you two, fine."
"What if something did happen between Gu Xiaoqi and Di Mingjue?" Nangong Ran suddenly asked.
She moved to stand next to Gu Qibao, stared down at Bo Chengxin, and showed no signs of showing face, "Di Mingjue is your boyfriend, but you, as an eagle, aren't controlling your chick? Now, presuming they do have something between them, how are you planning to react?"
Nangong Ran gave no face to Bo Chengxin. She heard their conversation earlier while sitting in her own car. Now, her concern was only for Gu Qibao. With Bo Chengyan treating Bo Chengxin so well, would Gu Qibao be able to stand it?
She turned to look and surely, Gu Qibao's face was deadly pale. She reached out and took Gu Qibao's hand. Saying nothing, she gave her silent consolation and support.
Bo Chengxin's eyes flashed with surprise and sharpness at Nangong Ran's words, but they were quickly replaced by a hint of vulnerability.
She didn't speak, yet Bo Chengyan quickly asked, "Nangong Ran, what do you mean by that?"
"The literal meaning." Nangong Ran replied, "It is none of your business to hold court about what may or may not be going on between Gu Qibao and Di Mingjue."
Having finished speaking, Nangong Ran took Gu Qibao by the arm, "Xiaoqi, let's go."
"Wait!" Bo Chengyan stepped in front of them, "Xiaoqi, what on earth is going on? Is there really something happening between you and Di Mingjue?"
He seemed desperate to know the answer.
Gu Qibao stared blankly. Was Bo Chengyan being so insistent because he was worried about her, or was it because he was anxious about Bo Chengxin?
"If something really happened..." Nangong Ran started to say before Gu Qibao abruptly pulled her to stop and quickly denied it, "There is absolutely nothing between Di Mingjue and me."
"Really?" Bo Chengyan asked.
