"Home sweet home"
My dad opened the door and stood in the door way and shouted "Guess who?" and moved aside.
"The camp boy is back" as I entered the house with such long face my mom came out with surprised expression on her face she probably thought I was straight again
"Camp boy?" walking towards us I looked at her
"Your husband forced me"
"Really!"
"And begged me"
My mom looked at my dad "With the puppy dog eyes?" I looked at my dad then back to my mom
"More of a German shepherd with a long pointy ears" Both of them laughed
"Sweetheart" giving me a tight hug I hugged her back "How are you?" she asked
"I'm good mom and you?" I asked while still hugging her tightly
"I'm good now that you are home" we broke the hug and my mom kissed me on my forehead
"I'll get you next time Ty" my dad said I look at him with such surprised expression on how confident he was.
"That would be great but sadly I won't be here I'll be at varsity"
"Then there is Easter, You'll be home"
"Then god will never forgive you" my mom laughed at dad
Then we heard Scott laughing and came out of his room as he walked down the stairs
"Ty just took the prize" we all looked at him and my dad was shocked to his toes.
"Scotty whose side are you on?" using the hands gestures
"Ty's who just took the prize" Scott and I laughed and make high five to each other.
"You switched sides so quickly we were buddies this whole week" we smiled at dad then I took my bags as I climbed the stairs to go to my room
"Sweetheart what do you want to eat tonight?"
"Anything but food cooked by dad" my mom chokes as she was drinking water and started coughing as she wanted to laugh "Ty!" she called out to me
"Oh and the second prize goes too?" Scott asked I turned back and quickly peek at the living room where my dad and Scott were sitting
"Tyler Creek you heard that dad?" I whispered but he just smirked at me while reading the file.
"I'll get you next summer"
"Too bad you'll be on vacation huh"
"Next Christmas then"
"On mom's month before you get me she'll get you first and you forgot about last year already?" he putted the file down and stared at me
"Ty no" with a scared wide eyes I looked at Scott who is looking at me with a naughty stare I looked at my dad again
"Mom…" my dad put his hand on his forehead "Dad forgot about last year"
"Shawn Creek how dare you forget what you did" Scott and I laughed at dad
"She was starting to forget about that" Scott looked at dad and shook his head for being disappointed.
"Oh dad he just took the gold" I looked at dad who is staring at me while shaking his head and I smile at him
"Yes I did" then I took my bags again went upstairs as soon as I get in my room I went straight to my laptop to check my emails but there was nothing but notifications and newsletters.
Being disappointed I sit down on the chair I take out my phone to call nick
"You've reached Nick McDowell I'm not here but you know what to do" I threw my phone on the bed cause I was frustrating to keep calling Nick and it goes straight to voicemail I know I seemed like a desperate housewife who wants to clear her name.
I heard the doorbell rings then my mom called me down stairs
"Ty can you come down please" as I opened my bedroom door I was hoping to be Nick but then I heard my mom talking to Mrs McDowell Nick's mom as I got in the living room.
"Good afternoon Mrs McDowell"
"Hello Tyler how are you, your mom told us what happened at the camp?"
"I'm fine now thanks to Nick he had got my shot where is he I've been trying to get hold of him but his phone goes straight to voicemail?"
"That's what I wanted to talk you about"
"I'll give you two some privacy to talk" my mom said
"No it's okay maybe you can also help me figure things out" Mrs McDowell said
"But Lilly what's wrong?" my mom asked
Mrs McDowell looked at her hands "I'm worried about Nick" my mom and me we looked at each other
"What happened?" My mom asked then Mrs McDowell turned to me
"Tyler at the camp did something happen did you notice anything at all?"
"Don't worry I think his upset with me" my mom and Mrs McDowell looked at each other with confusion.
"Did you two have fight or something?"
"Not exactly I think I might have said something that upsetted him" looking nervous my mom looked at me "I've been trying to call him but his phone is always off is he okay?"
"No… since he returned from the camp he just stays in his room he doesn't talk much sometimes I feel he wants to tell me something but he stops himself without saying anything"
I looked at my mom who is lost in thoughts as if she suspends or is curious about something she looked at me.
"Since his upset with me I thought I should give him some space and time you know how stubborn he can be"
"You are right he can very stubborn just like you that's why you two are best friend"
"You are right Lilly, do you remember how they used to fight when they were young and miss each other the very second they left each other side?" My mom asked
"Yes but they always found a way to each other every single time" I looked at Mrs McDowell I remembered how Nick and I have always been so close in our own
"I understood Mrs McDowell" I whispered
"Okay I should go now I'm glad we talked Tyler"
"I'll walk you out" my mom said as they both stood and walked to the door as my mom opened the door for Mrs McDowell she comforted her
"Don't worry much I'm sure they will resolve their issues like they always did when they were young soon or later they will be like cat and mouse." Both smiled
"I hope you are right Cathy, thank you so much"
Then my mom closed the door and returned to the living room and found me lost in thoughts
"Thinking about Nick?" I knotted my head to confirm "Sweetheart but what happened at camp between you two?" she asked
"Mom please"
"Alright but you know anytime you want to talk I'm here and I'm sure you and Nick will resolve any fight you had okay?"
"Yeah I hope so"
"So what are you going to do about matric dance, found a date yet?"
I shook my head "No I think I'll go alone there is nothing to be ashamed to go alone to matric dance right, Lian and my classmates will be there hopefully Nick will show up too"
"Or if you change your mind you can try that app your dad was talking about"
I quickly looked at my mom with a shocked and what a hell face "Did you just say that?"
"Yes I mean you can never know."
I stood looked down at my mom "I'm not having this conversation with you mom, your version of birds and bees talk still have a mark on my brain" then I walked away while she's laughing.
It's been about a week trying to reach out to Nick but his phone goes straight voicemail I didn't want to go to him as I wanted to give him some space thankfully the whole week I was busy with the final preps for matric dance picking up my suit going up and down and spending some time with my family.
Its SATURDAY THE DAY OF MATRIC DANCE:
As I walked around the store I spotted Nick standing in front of the cake shelf I walked to him and stood behind him then gave him a hug from behind
"Don't say anything just listen" he turned his head to the side to listen to me "when you ready to talk I'm just a cross the street away I'll leave my window open for you" then let him go and walked away part of me didn't want to leave him but I had to give him some time I took my stuff paid for them and headed for the exit.
As I walked to the car my dad was on the phone while waiting for me he had came with me but he stayed in the car, I just got inside and closed the door and looked outside the window my dad looked at me
"Are you okay bud?" I looked at him then outside the window again
I sighed "Yeah let's go oh dad can you drop me at the mall I need to get hair cut at the salon."
"Yeah sure and Nick have you heard from him yet"
"No" my dad started the car and drove away but my eyes were just stuck at the right side of the mirror looking at the store entrance.
