The Lemintus, the books of all books. There are different versions of this book. the original contains three different versions, from each curse human, however it has said to be lost and John wouldn't have the original. The werewolf version, one that many follow and said is close to the original, is at the Counsel of Wolves. The vampire one is buried deep in a tomb somewhere never to be open again, not because it's evil or anything it's just that one asshole decided to die with it in his hand and have it buried with him, and the nymph one is the one that John has. Thing is I have no clue where it's at, I mean I'm always in the library studying the notes and trying to rewrite them in modern english. There is not one book that said The Nymph Lemintus, if there was I would be reading that all day.
John, Zane, Sally, Julian and I head to the library. I notice the way Sally was walking was weird, for she wasn't walking at all, she was using her vines to glide her across the floor. I look at it with a questioning look before asking Sally "So umm, what's the deal with you walking like that?" She looks at me confused before looking down and laughing a little.
"Oh, well you see I'm still a succubus, even though the nymph blood flows through me I still have my succubus soul. John's cabin is sacred ground and if I touch or walk on it I will feel weak before passing out then dying."
"Ok, good point."
As we entered the library I can see John already moving some of the stuff I had set up in a different area. John then opens up a floor hatch that was underneath the table to revel a huge box. Pulling it out with his strength it seems the box was a lot larger than it looked. Locked with maybe a thousand locks, and with a silver, wolfbane soaked chain wrapped around it. John just kicks the chest out of the way and digs deep in the hatch to pull out a large book with dust all around. He blows off the dust before looking at it and nodding to himself. He hands it to Sally with a smile. She takes it and smiles with big wide eyes.
"The Nymphic Lemintus. The elders have told me the story of how this was taken."
"We don't need to hear that story." John said, shying away from the rest of us.
"It is embarrassing to say the least but I think it's best if the others hear it. At least the human." Sally makes a chair out of the vines that followed her around. "Let's just say we don't know how it got into your kinds hands Daniel. Your a Harris, so maybe you have heard about the BloomHigh Massacre, or perhaps WoodBerry?"
"WoodBerry, you mean the town that was overrun by nature itself in the late 90s? Yeah I heard that the town messed with dark magic. Some say the town was cursed because it was near a native burial site." I look at the others, who were listening to us. "BloomHigh, that was one of the first instances of the town admitting it was cursed."
John nods. "The Lemintus, that one at least, was the cause. Some humans, young teenagers, thought they could summon a demon. A demon did spawn, but one that killed all walks of life. A few humans decided to be smart and place the demon back where it belongs. BloomHigh was shut down shortly after. I was sent to investigate and retrieve what the cause was, however it took me awhile to find it."
"Apparently some humans who thought they could understand our world and how the book worked took it upon themselves to destroy it." Sally chuckles a little. "They almost did, give them that credit. Then one by one they fell. One decided to fall in love with a vampire, two died trying to protect the group, one fled never to be seen again, and the other had a fate worse than death. One that remained decided to do the ritual himself, when John finally came up to him."
"Detective Johnson, funny little man he was. Convinced him to hand me the book and all recordings. When he did he asked me to do one thing....to hide the book. I followed through till now. Eventually I knew the Nymphs would want their book back. How it got into human hands is a mystery."
I look at John. "Is the man still alive today? What about the other two? The one that fled and the one that fell in love with a vampire."
Sally just laughs. "Daniel I lived with vampires, you don't fall in love with one. The boy is probably dead. As for the one that fled, now he's interesting. A survivor of Bloomhigh and WoodBerry. His first name is Linus, that's all we know. John what was the deal with the detective?"
"Dead as well, died of lung cancer. He was a heavy smoker. Daniel why did you ask such a random question?"
"Cause, if this Linus guy survived all of that he might help us."
John roars out a hearty laugh. "A random human, Daniel you are a comedian." He still laughs and Sally just shakes her head a little looking at me. "Even if we wanted hs help, he's a hard one to find."
"Umm, hate to be this person cause it seems we have the luck of the draw here but, I happen to know a Linus. Saying this guy survived both occasions so his age fits. Around his mid 40s maybe early 50s" said Lucy who walked in. "He actually lives near the bar, and when I mean lives near I mean he's homeless."
"Hm, strange that everyone we want is around the area. Well expect two people. A human and a sub-human are stuck in New Orleans dealing with another problem."
Sally gets up, the vines once again at her feet as she starts to walk away from the library. "I must return with this book at once, but I will return, the gate doesn't close for another 2 weeks hopefully then we can sort out the situation your all dealing with in that time span. In the meantime get all the help you can. I heard vampires are the worst this time of year. Julian, can you escort me love." Julian gets up and holds Sally's hand as they walk out. Zane and Lucy look at me before one of them speaks.
"Hey, how's Katt?"
I sigh and shake my head. "Tough, she's in a fetal like position. Trama of the events with that man hit her harder than a truck. Give her some time to relax." They both nod their head and I walk away going back into the room were Katt was. I lay next to her, but not cuddling with her. Instead just being there for her, as if telling her everything is alright. Least somewhat.
