Arron had long, wavy blonde hair that flowed down his shoulders and back. He had bright green eyes that seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. His skin was pale and smooth, and his cheeks were rosy. He was tall for his age, and he was lanky and thin.
As we walked through the city, I noticed that he was limping slightly.
"Are you hurt, Arron?"
"I think I twisted my ankle," the boy said.
"Let's stop and rest," I said.
The four of us stopped and rested on top of some nearby rubble. Upon first arriving to the southern district at the start of the battle, it was largely left untouched but within a few minutes the pleasant urban scenery turned into a chaotic one. The streets were filled with debris and rubble, and the buildings were crumbling.
It was a scene of utter destruction, and it was heartbreaking. All thanks to the demons of course.
We sat on the rubble, and I used Imagination Amplification to tend to the boy's injured ankle. I felt a surge of pain suddenly overtake me making me feel nauseous and my vision blur.
"Are you alright, Creator?" Sophia asked.
"Yes," I replied. "I'm fine. Just a bit tired."
The boy's ankle was healed, and I brought up the topic regarding his parents.
"So, Arron, what happened to your parents? You seem skilled with a bow, are you hunters?"
"My father was a hunter, yes. He was very skilled, and he taught me everything I know. But he went out hunting a few days ago and didn't return. My mother has been frantic, and we've been worried about him. And now this is happening, and I don't know where she is. I was looking for her when those monsters started appearing and attacked everyone."
"I see. I'm sorry to hear that. We'll keep an eye out for your mother. What does she look like?"
"She has long, blonde hair and blue eyes. She's a bit taller than me, and she has a kind smile."
"Don't worry, we'll find her. We'll make sure you're reunited with your family."
We continued searching the southern part of the city, and we came across a large group of elves who were being cornered by a horde of demons. These particular elves appeared to be fierce fighters.
They were dressed in light armor and wielded various weapons. They had a regal air about them, and their movements were graceful and fluid. They moved with a sense of purpose, and they were focused on the battle ahead. They were experienced fighters and I thought they would be a huge help protecting the elves in the east.
The elves had formed a semicircle and were fending off the demons. They were holding their own, but they were beginning to tire.
As we approached, we could hear the clashing of swords and the cries of the wounded. Althea, Sophia, and I rushed into battle while Arron protected our rear. The elves were surprised but happy to see us.
"We're here to help!" I shouted.
"Thank the Creator!" one of the elves exclaimed.
We joined the fight, and we quickly made a difference. Our combined strength was enough to turn the tide, and we were able to defeat the demons but not without some struggle.
The elves were thankful, and they bowed before us.
"Thank you, Lord Thomas. We are in your debt."
"It was my pleasure," I replied. "We're just doing our job. Now, let's get you and the others to safety. Head east to the forest."
"Yes, Lord Thomas. We will obey your command."
The elves began to leave, but one of them stayed behind. He was a tall, muscular elf with dark hair and a rugged face.
"Thank you for saving us," he said. "May I join your party, Lord Thomas?"
"Of course," I replied. "What is your name?"
"My name is Kyran," he replied. "I am a veteran of many battles. I would like to offer my services to you."
Kyran was a towering figure, and he stood at least a head taller than me. He was broad-shouldered and well-muscled. His arms were like tree trunks, and his hands were calloused and rough.
He had a deep, commanding voice, and his eyes were dark and intense. He was bigger than any elf I had seen during my time in this world.
"Kyran, I would be glad to have you on our team. Please join us, and let's continue searching the southern part of the city. The Queen and more survivors are still out there somewhere."
"Yes, Lord Thomas."
We continued our search for Amber, when all of a sudden a gigantic roar echoed throughout the southern district. The roar caused the ground to tremble, and the buildings to shake.
"What was that?" Althea asked.
"It sounds like a great beast of sorts," Kyran said. "This will make for a legendary battle!"
"Whatever it is, it doesn't sound good," I said.
As we neared the source of the roar, we could see a monstrous creature that was unlike anything I had ever seen.
It was a grotesque amalgamation of flesh and bone. It was nine feet tall and had a massive serpentine body. It had six clawed limbs, and its face was a contorted nightmare. It was covered in scales and spikes, and it had a mouth that was filled with razor-sharp teeth.
The creature was a nightmarish monstrosity, and it was unlike anything I had ever encountered.
"That demon is massive!" Althea exclaimed.
"How do you even fight such a thing?" Sophia added.
"With courage and valor!" Kyran said.
The beast was terrifying, but I knew we had to face it. The lives of the remaining elves in the city were at stake, and we couldn't let this creature rampage unchecked.
I took a deep breath and steadied myself.
"Everyone, ready yourselves. This will not be an easy fight."
"Yes, Lord Thomas," the group said.
The five of us charged into battle, and began attacking the demon.
The demon was a powerful and ferocious opponent, and it was unlike anything we had ever faced. It was relentless and savage, and it had no mercy whatsoever.
It attacked with lightning speed and incredible force, and it was nearly impossible to defend against.
It was a brutal and bloody battle, and it was a fight for survival.
"We have to keep attacking," I yelled. "We can't let up for a second."
"Yes, Lord Thomas," the group replied. Kyran and I used brute force to deal damage to the demon, while the others supported us from a distance. Althea —who switched to using a bow— and Arron fired arrows at the beast, while Sophia used her innate healing magic to support us.
"Watch out for its tail!" I shouted. "It's a dangerous weapon."
"I'll be fine, Lord Thomas," Kyran replied.
'Kyran is like a mountain, he can handle himself. I must focus on attacking the demon,' I thought.
I charged at the demon and swung my sword, dealing a small blow to the creature. The demon roared and attacked back, but I was able to dodge.
Kyran also charged in and swung his sword, cutting the demon's tail clean off. The demon roared in pain, and its blood sprayed all over the ground.
"Haha! That's how its done!" Kyran shouted with a grin on his face.
The battle raged on, and the demon was slowly starting to wear down.
I knew that we were winning, but I also knew that the battle wasn't over yet.
"Keep up the attack!" I shouted.
The demon roared and lunged at us, but we were able to dodge its attack.
"Its vulnerable! Take it out!"
Kyran and I attacked the demon's chest, and the others followed suit. We landed a barrage of blows, and the demon roared in pain.
"It's weakened! Keep up the pressure!"
We attacked the demon again and again, and its defenses were beginning to break. I thought that the battle would soon come to an end until someone unexpected appeared from the giant demon's rear.
