Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

The elves were gathered in the temple, and they were awed by my presence. The sun shone brightly through the stained glass windows, and the temple was filled with a sense of peace and tranquility. I can tell that by my presence alone, the disunity that elves had endured has begun to vanish.

"My wonderful creations," I say. "The time has come for me to begin guiding you and showing you the way. The future is bright, and I will lead you towards a path of prosperity and happiness. Trust in me, and have faith in my wisdom. I will protect you, and I will give you everything you need. Your future is uncertain, but I will be with you every step of the way. Now be on your way and tend to your duties. I must speak with Cyrus alone."

The elves bowed and left the temple, each elf looking back towards me and Cyrus.

"So, what is it you wish to speak to me about, Creator?" Cyrus asked.

"I wish to speak to you about the future of the elves. For the most part, your people are doing well. What worried me the most was the disunity that began to plague your civilization."

"I understand, my lord. We will do whatever it takes to end this disunity."

"Good," I said with a smile.

"My lord," Cyrus began. "What would you have us do? What is the purpose of the elves?"

"That is a good question. I initially only wanted your kind to develop and grow in numbers, and that hasn't changed. I hadn't put much thought into what I want from you moving forward. I suppose I want... a friend."

"A friend?" Cyrus asked.

"Yes, a friend. As powerful as I am, I still have feelings. I don't enjoy being alone. I need someone, or a few someone's, to keep me company. In my current realm I am not all powerful. I cannot simply create companions. I am plagued by feelings of loneliness, and I am desperate for any companionship I can get."

"I understand, my lord," Cyrus said.

"As time goes on, and the elves evolve, I will have more to say, but for now, I just want you to lead your people. Be a father to your children and love your wife."

"As you wish, my lord. Thank you for revealing yourself to us and guiding us towards a brighter future. We are blessed, and we will serve you with all our hearts," Cyrus said.

"I have also decided to live among you for a while. There are many things I want to introduce to your people. Treat me as a friend Cyrus. Call me by my name Thomas. I do not want the elves to see me as an untouchable deity."

"As you wish, lord Thomas," Cyrus said.

"For starters, I would like to explore the city. Show me around."

"Of course," Cyrus said.

We began walking, and Cyrus showed me around the city. It was a simple and crude city, but there was a beauty and simplicity to it that spoke volumes.

I saw the elves going about their daily lives, and I was amazed at how well-adjusted and peaceful they were. There was a sense of community, and there was a deep connection to the earth. I wanted to try out the cuisine of the elves so I asked Cyrus to take me to an eatery.

"Right this way lord Thomas," Cyrus said.

We went to a rather primitive restaurant, and I ordered a meal. The food was simple but delicious, and I was amazed at how fresh and flavorful it was. The first bite I took was a revelation. I had created the taste buds for the elves, and they could taste the complexity of flavors, even at the Stone Age level. The elves had amazing ingredients and were very skilled in preparation.

"This is incredible," I said.

"I'm glad you're enjoying the food, my lord," Cyrus said.

After eating, Cyrus and I walked through the city and I got a good look at the lives of the elves. It was not much different from how the lives were on Earth. The elves had jobs, and they had families. They worked hard, and they enjoyed their lives.

I got several glimpses of the elves' attire. They wore simple and practical clothing made of cloth and leather. I was surprised to see that they had advanced far enough to produce fabric. The clothing was functional and comfortable, and there was a beauty and simplicity to it that spoke volumes.

The elves were a peaceful and gentle people, and I was impressed with their resilience and their desire to live in harmony with the world around them.

"The elves are a remarkable people, and you have done an excellent job of leading them, Cyrus," I said.

"Thank you, my lord," Cyrus said with a large smile. "I am surprised at how fast your people have evolved within hundreds of years. You are about to reach your thousandth year on this world, correct?"

"Yes, that is correct," Cyrus replied.

"That is a great achievement, and I am proud of you. Keep up the good work," I said.

Cyrus smiled and nodded.

"Lord Thomas, I would like to show you a project I have been working on," Cyrus said.

"Very well, lead the way," I said.

Cyrus led me to a small workshop where he had been working on a primitive printing press that worked by using scribes and imbedding the writing on stone tablets.

"This is impressive," I said.

"Thank you, my lord. This is the first printing press, and I am proud of it. I have been developing the knowledge and skills to make it work, and now I am ready to begin producing as much books as possible and spreading the word of the Creator."

"I am impressed, Cyrus," I said. "I, the Creator have blessed you, and I am glad that I created you as the first elf."

"Thank you, my lord," Cyrus said.

"I applaud you for delivering on what I asked, Cyrus."

"My lord, what would you have me do with the printing press? Shall I begin spreading the word of the Creator?"

"Not yet," I said. "The time has not yet come for you to begin spreading the word. I have yet to establish any concrete teaching but I suppose it is time I do.

"Very well, my lord. When the time is right, I will be ready," Cyrus said.

As time went on, I spent more time with the elves, and I became closer with them. I saw many elves kneel, bow, and even pray when they got a good look at me. However, the majority were more respectful than anything.

The elves were a humble and wise people, and they respected their Creator. I had no doubt that they would listen to my teachings when the time came.

"Creator," Cyrus said. "If you don't mind me asking, how did you come to be?"

"In your world Cyrus, I may appear to be an all powerful god with the power to bend the world to my will. In my world, however, I am like your average elf. I am a lonely mortal with a life just like everyone else. Also, while I am able to use an incredible amount of power, it has a limit, and it drains my stamina, energy, and exhausts me mentally."

"That is fascinating, my lord," Cyrus said.

As we walked, we arrived in the middle of the city. A crowd was gathered, and there was an air of anticipation.

"It looks like something is happening here," Cyrus said.

"Yes, it does," I replied. "What could it be?"

"My lord, would you allow me to speak with the crowd and see what is happening?"

"Yes, go ahead, Cyrus," I said.

Cyrus walked into the middle of the crowd and spoke to the people.

"What is going on here?" Cyrus asked.

"There has been an attack, and there are wounded," an elf said.

"Who has attacked us?" Cyrus asked.

"A large horde of wild animals," the elf replied.

"Are the wild animals gone?" Cyrus asked.

"Yes, they are gone," the elf replied.

"We need help," an elf said. "The wounded are many, and we are not skilled healers."

I walked up to Cyrus and put a hand on his shoulder. "I'll handle this. Bring the wounded to me!"

"As you wish, my lord," Cyrus said.

Elves carrying the wounded came forth, and I looked at the injuries. I saw cuts, bruises, and some broken bones.

I put my hands over the wounded, and I healed them. A power golden light washed over the wounded elves and their wounds were healed.

The crowd was amazed, and they looked at me in awe and reverence.

"How did you do that, my lord?" Cyrus asked.

"I have the ability to heal, Cyrus," I said. "Remember, I am all powerful here. Perhaps I will introduce magic to this world. It would certainly make things more interesting. Healing would be simple."

"That is a blessing, my lord," Cyrus said.

"You know," I said. "I have an idea. Since healing is such a simple task, I could create a school of healing where elves can learn the basics and heal others. What do you think?"

"That is an excellent idea, my lord," Cyrus said. "Very well, then. I suppose it's time I create and introduce magic," I said with a giant smirk.
