The king and queen entered the court room, but instead of the immediate hush that accompanied their arrival, the vampires turned louder even more. There were those that practically yelled over the others so their concerns could be heard, while some even at the verge of fighting.
No wonder Marquis Lanz seemed frantic.
Aleksander's head started to swarm with a lot of voices around him, mostly even directed at him as well. He closed his eyes and breathed in slowly, inhaling and exhaling to refocus himself. Shortly after, the voices that flooded his head were muted, and Aleksander could think straight again.
'It had been a long time since I slipped and made a mistake like that,' he thought at the back of his head, 'Perhaps it is the jitters.'
