The deadly aura penetrated the whole cave as the time seemed to be still and fixed. Eli's eyes enlarged in fear as he glanced upon the rapidly blitzing twilight arrow towards them.
He can feel it... though his strength doesn't allow it. But his senses of innate perception order roared next to his ears as it wandered down into his spine.
Telling him that death is approaching. What could he do other than wait for it?. The gap of strength between them was far too great to be interpreted. Even a 10-star magician next to him wasn't able to do much other than obstructing the enemy action for a couple of seconds.
'Is he from the capital?... only those of 11 stars and above could completely crush a 10-star magician effortlessly.'
He thought to himself and in the next second...
*BOOM!!* *TREMBLES* *TREMBLES*
The twilight arrow rumbled forth against the ground. Raising the surrounding soil upward.
An entire section within this cave was blown up into pieces... broadening it further.
Though it appeared that even such a powerful blast wasn't enough to destroy this whole cavern. Mainly because this whole cavern is an organism... a very large one or could it be a branch of giant roots?.
"Humph... I got all riled up for nothing."
The burly man spoke with arrogance on his face as he floated above the air with his arm spanned on his chest. Ripples of twilight energy twisted around his body while a gaseous dark breath lingered about on his head.
"It seems they weren't here for me. Meaning that I still have time until those old bastards came down here."
"Puny and... not knowing that a bigger war is silently erupting. Weakness is a sin and that's why death is more deserving to people like you"
"But..."
Suddenly the man slanted his gaze upward... staring at the ceiling of this cavern. While the dust down there still lingered about swaddling the whole view.
"What's that?... "
He muttered to himself as his eyes penetrated through the thick soil... seemingly being able to detect something.
Zooming in into his viewpoint... a large amount of energy was rapidly bombarding downward in his direction. But he can confirm it to be "Energy" only and not a living thing.
"Since it's coming down it means that someone had fired it from above."
"The capital?"
"But that doesn't make any sense. it should take them more than half a year of preparation to come down here on this continent."
His eyes bulged in doubt as he propped up his chin with his left hand.
While he was contemplating... there in the niche of the cavern. An invisible shell-like barrier prevailed there firmly without any scars on it. As to be expected both of them had survived the attack with this extraordinary barrier.
"Young master... thank God you bring that artifact together with you. Or else we might have already died."
Senior Weyn clamored with a sigh of relief as she wobbled herself against the rocky and cold "crystalline" wall.
"Yeah... but now this artifact will remain dormant for a couple more years until it can be used again."
"But it was worth it... our little lives were saved or else..."
"I know..."
"And all of this also went down as I had planned though there was some miscalculation within it. I had never expected there to be a dark practitioner hidden within this mountain. "
His gaze roamed about towards the outside as he peeked towards the parched ground filled with scarcely visible corroded energy swaying about in thin lines.
"So what should we do now young master?... If we were to go out from this barrier we would immediately be detected by him."
"No... he will detect something else. Remember the roar from before?"
Eli asked with a mischievous smile on his face...
"This? don't tell me..."
Her eyes widened in surprise after hearing his words.
"Yes... they should have already detected this burly guy's energy deep down within the ground. At any moment now... they will come."
"and at that moment would be our greatest chance to escape..."
He slowly uttered his plans with his gaze leaning upwards onto the cavern ceiling.
"... this corroded energy is extremely precious. Even I can do a lot of things with it... I think this should be the so-called hidden temple."
-
"It's coming!"
The burly man shouted with vigilance as in the next moment he abruptly shot upward slamming his body against the crystalline ceiling.
*Boom!*
A thundering noise evoked itself while his body blazed with intense twilight energy encircling him. With both of his palms fronting upward against the ceiling... holding it against as he rocketed up.
"100 meters... away..."
"50 meters away..."
"Now!"
"Arghhhh!!!!"
*Shakes* *shakes!*
The cave started to vibrate intensely while above him. Seemingly visible floods of sizzling heat erupted straight across the soil with red. Something is coming down!.
He instantly exhorted the energy within his body to construct a vast hemisphere shield tinted closely against the ceilings as it's the upper layer.
"Shit! it's an energy bomb! I can feel it now! "
After sensing the tremor added with the scorching heat that came from the soil above.
He finally found out what it was...
His eyes magnified in fear... knowing that an emperor class monster is not something he could cope up with.
"I will have to hold on! only an emperor class energy bomb could be this terrifying! shit!"
*Rumbles* *Rumbles!*
The soil above began to shift in color turning into brightly lit red scorching lava as the ground below began to break down piece by piece.
Driblet of sweat dripped about from his forehead while he gritted his teeth and continued to hold his shield against the ever-coming attack from above.
"Heavy!! arghh"
His body declined slightly... feeling the heaviness of the attack alone was unbearable for him.
"Shit! this is not a normal emperor class monster! it's a peak one!"
He cried out in horror while forcibly exploding his energy against the soil above.
Finally after a couple of instants
*Boom!* *RUMBLES!*
A deafening howl blasted above... rapidly destroying the whole ground as the shockwave produced from it wrecked downward in the cave direction.
"Arghhh!... hold on! just a little bit more!!"
A furious roar blustered through the soil as in the next second his whole body was slammed against the ground below. But he was still wielding on against the eruption from the blast with his shield up and both of his feet deeply rooted into the crystalline ground.
"AARGHHH!! THIS IS TOO MUCH!..."
"N-NO! I NEED TO HOLD ON! SO THAT I CAN MEET HER! OUR LORD!"
"A LITTLE BIT LONGER!... JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE!"
He continuously resisted against the impact while his eyes began to bleed. To describe the impact would be similar to a tiny meteorite slamming down onto a small mountain.
