Chapter 16 - Learning New Magic

Lorne saw the look of worry on Camet's face.

"Master Camet, what is it?"

Faced with Lorne's question, Camet smiled and said,

"It's alright. Your talent is really too good. When the mission is completed, I'll teach you other spells."

"Alright, Teacher!"

Lorne continued searching for the Red-eared Rabbit. He had to complete his goal no matter what.

However, after learning the method, Lorne quickly killed enough Red-eared Rabbits.

Although there were no more Magical Crystal Red-eared Rabbits, this round of hunting had earned Lorne a lot.

The most important thing was that it did not take long. During this time, he even encountered other magical beasts.

But they were all chased away by Camet. He told Lorne to focus on the Red-eared Rabbit first.

Lorne did not understand why Camet would do that. With his current strength, he was more than enough to deal with those magical beasts.

But he believed that there had to be a reason for Camet to do this.

The truth was that what Camet was doing for Lorne now was the third-year course at the Academy of Magic.

Most of the freshmen in the first year had elemental magic and mastered magic. In the second year, they had an understanding of magical beasts and continents.

There was also learning new magic and the third year had entered the actual combat stage.

Mages needed three years to go into battle and kill enemies but Swordsmen did not. They spent the first six months training their swordsmanship.

There was also physical strength. They would start hunting Magical Beasts in the next half year which made their combat experience extremely rich.

At the same time, they could earn a considerable amount of money. However, they would need to form a team of mages to hunt higher-level magical beasts.

Without the help of mages, it would be difficult for them to hunt high-level magical beasts.

But an experienced mage would not enter the ranks of those newcomers.

The new team also wanted to find older mages. Otherwise, they would have to train with mages for another half a year.

If an inexperienced mage was to assist them, they would be wiped out by the high-level monsters.

This was also an awkward cycle, so those who cultivated magic were usually children from wealthy families.

Their family had recruited swordsmen who could make mages without combat experience follow them.

This was also why mages were rare.

Lorne was a commoner mage and the reason why he learned magic was very simple. He had been eliminated from the Swordsman Academy.

In order to survive, he could only try his luck. Fortunately, the crystal detected that he had a chance to practice magic.

If not, Lorne might really starve to death on the streets. He would not be able to live as carefreely as he did now.

Seeing that Lorne had completed his task, Master Camet spoke again. "Lorne, I'm going to teach you the newbie's magic this time. It's called Flaming Bullet."

Hearing that his teacher was going to teach him a new spell, Lorne's eyes were filled with anticipation.

Understanding the expectant look in Lorne's eyes, Camet adjusted himself and continued.

"The Flaming Bullet is different from the Wind Blade. It's an Area Of Effect attack spell."

As he spoke, he released a Flaming Bullet towards the empty space in the distance.

It was worth noting that the Raging Flames Bullet did not disappear like the wind blades.

After it exploded on the ground, the other small flames flew in all directions.

Seeing Camet's demonstration, Lorne nodded, not fully understanding. The wind blade was a single-target attack that could be compressed.

On the other hand, the Raging Flames Bullet was a splash type attack that could cause damage to the surrounding enemies.

"Put the Red-eared Rabbit on the ground and try to feel the fire element in the air. Then, move it."

Lorne closed his eyes and began to feel the fire element.

Although he closed his eyes, a ball of flames appeared in front of Lorne's eyes and floated around him.

Camet nodded in satisfaction. He would have to wait slowly for Lorne to feel the fire element.

The process wouldn't take too long. Even a typical genius would take a day. He figured Lorne would need an hour.

Just as he was about to sit on the ground and rest, Lorne said happily,

"Teacher, I really want to see the fire element!"

This…

Camet had nothing to say. He said he was used to it.

Every time Lorne surprised him, he felt that for an hour Lorne could feel it but it took Lorne less than a minute.

This made Camet, who was also a genius, feel humiliated. What kind of genius was he? This Lorne in front of him was the real monster.

Indeed, he could only be considered outstanding. A true genius was like Lorne.

"Teacher, I can feel the fire element. What should I do next?"

Upon hearing Lorne's question, Camet immediately reacted.

"Ahem, try to gather the fire elements together. When they are successfully gathered, you can open your eyes."

Lorne did as Camet told him. He gathered the fire element to his chest. He could clearly feel the temperature on his chest changing.

At this moment, two notifications rang in his mind.

"Ding! Congratulations on learning Flame Bullet."

"When the Blazing Bullet saw the host rubbing the fireball, he excitedly joined in and his cultivation speed increased."

Hearing the voice in his mind, Lorne knew that he had already learned the Flaming Bullet.

He did not combine the fireball and the Raging Flames Bullet together and hit the empty space in the distance.

At this moment, a Gale Wolf darted out from the bushes. Before it could react, a Raging Flame Bullet the size of his body hit him.

Then, sounds of explosions rang out in the surroundings. The Gale Wolves had turned into roasted wolves.

He was just taking a stroll like he usually did. Why would someone release Flaming Bullets randomly in the forest? Such dangerous magic!

Seeing the Gale Wolf that he had killed, Lorne happily said to Camet,

"Teacher, we can have roast wolf meat for lunch today."

Seeing the innocent young man in front of him, Camet didn't know what to say.

He had just learned the Raging Flame Bullet but he had already killed a second-rank Magical Beast, the Gale Wolf, in an instant. How could other mages survive?

He suspected that if Lorne joined the Dark Mages in the future, it would be a disaster for the entire continent.

In order to prevent Lorne from going down the wrong path, he had to teach him well. Otherwise, it would be a waste of his talent.

Lorne's talent could not be considered a genius. He was a monster among geniuses.

Camet, who had lived so long, had never seen such a monstrous genius. Lorne was the first.

After Lorne split the wolf meat, he walked towards Camet with a leg.

"Teacher, you eat first."

Seeing how obedient Lorne was, Camet smiled in relief.

Such a sensible child would not fight with those Dark Sorcerers.

He had to lead Lorne well. He was even more determined now.
