" Han yul has been acting strange, she can't sleep."
" When did it start?"
" Five days ago, when she woke up from that sickness."
" I see" he scratched his forehead a little "did you give her anything."
" Yes I gave her the sleeping pills you gave me last time, she closed her eyes for a minute and that's it."
" So she took a sleeping pill and couldn't sleep huh?!!."
" She took three sleeping pills."
" Th...three!!!, That's overdose."
" Am sorry, I was worried and it didn't have any effect on her."
" I understand your worries, but this drugs you see also have a side effect, yet she took three and couldn't sleep" he lightly scratched his head " That's strange. Did she complain about anything, maybe a headache?"
" No."
" Don't worry, I think I know what's wrong with her, but I will stop by later to see her before making any conclusion."
" Thank you so much."
" Please don't say that. I'm like her grandfather. Is there anything else?"
" Yes, there is." She adjusted her sitting postion.
" Is it you?" inquired her husband.
" No. I'm sorry I didn't tell you this earlier." She said as she turned and looked around surveying the room properly.
" Are you looking for something? Physician ma-dong asked.
" Are you the only person here?"
" Yes is there any...." she quickly stood up without paying attention to what he had to say, closed the door and dragged the wooden curtains down, making sure everywhere is tightly closed.
" Chaewon are you al...." Before Trader Soo Byung Hu could finish talking, she quickly came back and sat down.
She lowered her voice as she spoke. " I know what I'm about to say doesn't make sense, but it's a confidential secret. I think Han yul is....."
She turned around to make sure no one was listening, meanwhile they all looked at her curiously without uttering a word. " I think she's not human or probably exchanged in the market."
" Huh?" They both echoed."
" how can I put it!!, there's a myth that says witches have the ability to heal wounds quickly in the blink of an eye right?."
" Chaewon that's kids stuff."
" Yet it was written in the legendary myth book."
" It's just a made-up story book trying to sell ideas to make money."
" I also thought of the same thing until the day Han yul woke up. I was trimming her nails then I mistakenly dozed off, the next thing I know is I accidentally cut han yul's leg with the trimmer. Blood started oozing out. I sent Wol to quickly bring a clean cloth, then the most shocking thing ever happened."
" What?"
" The wound was fused, only blood stains were left, the cut was no more. " Chaewon, I think you didn't have enough sleep that's why you were imagining things."
Physician ma-dong was quiet, listening to both of them.
" It's not an imagination, I know you won't believe me, I'm telling you what I saw."
" Then how did you come across the deep wound on your hand?"
" Inorder to avoid any suspicion. I cut myself intentionally so that Wol will think it's me."
" And she believed you?"
" Yes it worked."
" Chaewon am sorry....but everything you say doesn't make sense." He said in a polite manner.
" I know you'll say that." she said as she slowly started unveiling the bandage on her hand. As she removed it they were all shocked to see that the deep wound she had before was no more.
" What the....." Trader Soo Byung Hu was speechless.
Physician ma-dong took a long sight.
" What in Buddha's name is this?" He held her hand and turned it around. Surprised to see no sign of a cut. I was the one who cleaned the cut and tied that bandage, but how and when did it...huh?!!"
" Do you believe me now."
Trader Soo Byung Hu nodded in accordance.
" Yes.... I do."
" I realised it was healed a day before yesterday, when I slept next to her."
" You should have told me!"
" I couldn't tell you cause you'll freak out, neither could i untie the bandage to avoid any suspicion."
" I've finally found the last piece of the puzzle. Now it all make sense." Physician ma-dong adjusted his sitting position and came closer to them.
" When I first examined her that day, her leg was swollen and there was a dislocation. Before I could go to the clinic and come back in the evening, it was gone. The swollen part was back to normal. I found it hard to tell you cause it's unbelievable. Thoughts ran through my mind, maybe I was still lacking knowledge or probably going crazy, it's one of the two I thought. After attending to my patients I reread all the books I have pertaining medicine.i found out I wasn't lacking anything, then what could it be?, that was the question I've been asking myself." but now that I finally fixed the last piece of the puzzle everything became clear.
" What is clear?"
" I once heard about nokdu mountain when I was in my age of prime, it was said that the people who lived there are healers. They can cure you of any ailment except making you whole again when you're amputated or reviving the dead."
" You think Han yul is from nokdu mountain?"
" No"
" Do you know where that mountain is?"
" I do, unfortunately the people don't live there anymore."
" Where are they now."
He looked at them with a soft smile on his face." They are dead."
" What? D... dead?"
" Yes, till date no one knows what happened, for no one survived to tell the tale of how it Happened. But rumours have it that the entire village and the people within were massacred.
" Huh!!, Oh my!, Who could have done such a horrible thing."
" No one knows."
There was an awkward silence for some minutes.
Physician ma-dong finally broke the silence.
" I think you should go back home now, am also needed in the clinic. I'll stop by later in the evening as promised." He quickly stood up and went out leaving them both in his office. He slowly closed the door and sighed.
