Laying on the massage table, Averna closed her eyes as she waited for the technician to begin. Her body relaxed from all the stress, and she felt herself drift off to sleep.
"Ms. Averna?"
She opened her eyes and found the man staring down at her. "Yes. What's wrong?"
"Are you comfortable?"
"Yes. Thank you."
"Good. Now, I'll ask you to take a deep breath."
Averna listened, and she heard the sound of a machine. The technician said nothing more, but she wondered if this woman was reading her mind or something similar. With a soft touch, the woman began rubbing her shoulder.
"This will feel cold. Please don't move."
