Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - Sea Monster ?

After wrapping bandages around her left eye, Sachiko went back to the deck.

She saw Gon helping a sailor there and chuckled, "This Gon is really nice in person. I'm glad the plot is still the same somehow. Or I won't be able to use my knowledge of future events."

"Nakamura san, what happened to your eye?" Gon asked when he happened to look at her and saw her left eye covered in bandages.

"Nothing..Right, do you feel something's off?"

Sachiko asked with a frown. She got an uneasy feeling suddenly and she couldn't put her finger on it.

Gon tried to sniff the air and see the ocean from the top of the sail at that. After taking a couple sniffs, his eyes widened and shouted, "A storm is coming. Probably a big one."

"How do you know that?" The man who seemed to be the captain asked.

Gon smiled and said, "The air...smelled like it. And look at those cranes, too!" He then proceeded to point to the cranes which are now flying around the sail. "They are saying a big storm is coming."

Everyone seemed to be surprised at Gon's ability but Sachiko chuckled in her place. 'Yeah, let the protagonist have his moment to shine.'

The storm came not long after that, the peaceful ocean just moments ago had now turned into a fierce battlefield. With all those angry waves attacked the ship, the ship was shaking and almost everyone and everything on board was rolling over from place to place. Some were already vomitting onto the floor and the captain eyed at them quietly as he opened the door.

'Yeah, they're all gonna fail.' Sachiko thought, standing against the wall with hands crossed in front of her chest. She was definitely thanking herself for yesterday's practice because there was no way she could stay unfazed like this without learning to enhance her legs with cursed energy.

Three more people in the room were calm, one was Gon, the other one was a yellow haired kid lying on a hammock and reading a book, probably Kurapika and the last one, Leorio eating a green apple.

The captain seemed to be surprised to see them, especially Kurapika who was lying on a hammock and Sachiko who was just standing unfazed.

'Maybe there are still a few with some iron in them after all.' Captain thought.

Then, they were brought outside the room for an interview. Sachiko stood at the corner to Gon's left and beside Leorio. The captain asked, "Right , go down the line and tell me your names."

Gon started, "I am Gon."

"I am Kurapika", Kurapika said quietly.

"I am Leorio." Leorio said.

"Well, I'm Nakamura Sachiko. Nakamura's my surname and Sachiki is my first name." Sachiko said.

Captain nodded, "Good, good. Now, why do you want to be hunters?"

"Whoa, yoy're not the examiner , so why do you ask?" Leorio said, displeased.

"Just answer the question, dummy." The captain said.

"I will. Because my father is a hunter." Gon answered, his eyes glowing in innocence. Sachiko sighed, 'What's with those innocence? And why do you even meet a father who abandoned you?'

Gon continued, "Because being a hunter was the most important thing to my dad, I want to become a hunter and know why. That's why I left Whale Island."

The captain seemed to recognize Gon then, but Leorio said, "You don't have to tell this old man everything, Gon."

Gon defended, "But he asked and this is not a secret!"

"You don't get it, do you? It's us versus him." Leorio said. "I am not going to tell anything to this old man."

"I agree with Leorio on this one." Kurapika agreed.

"Hey, respect your elders!" Leorio shouted.

"What about you?" The captain asked Sachiko, ignoring Kurapika and Leorio.

"Hmm, I don't really know. But I think it would be cool if I become the strongest in the future." Sachiko answered while rubbing hee chin. "Yeah, that's a cool answer." She nodded in satisfaction.

"The strongest ?" The captain seemed interested, "I hope you have the means to back up your words."

"Oh, I will." Sachiko replied with a smile.

"Alright," Captain said as he looked at Kurapika and Leorio, "Katzo, get a hold of the exam committee and tell them we have two more dropouts."

"Dropouts?" Kurapika and Leorio were confused.

The captain proceeded to tell them how he decides who goes to the next round and who doesn't. The two looked like they were regretting their life decisions and Sachiko hardly managed to stifle her laugh.

"Hey, is that funny to you?!" Leorio asked her furiously.

"Only a little. Don't ask me why tho. Coz I don't know." Sachiko replied.

"Now, now, are you two going to answer my question?" Captain asked.

Kurapika sighed and started to answer, "I am the sole survivor of Kurta clan. Four years ago, my entire clan was annihilated by a band of criminals. This is why I want to be a hunter."

Captain said, "Seems you want to be a black list hunter. Phantom Troupe is Class A bounty. You know it is a suicide mission, right?"

Kurapika replied that he didn't fear death. He was just afraid of forgetting the hatred he felt for Phantom Troupe.

"That's deep." Sachiko said dramatically.

"Yeah, you are just here for revenge." Leorio said.

"Why do you want to be a hunter, Leorio san?" Gon asked.

"Obviously it's for money." Leorio then told them what money could buy. Kurapika scoffed and insulted him by saying Leorio couldn't buy class. Leorio was furious, so he brought up the annihilation of Kurta clan and said he would end the clan's bloodline by killing Kurapika.

Sachiko watched the scene, amused even as the two left the room to fight. She proceeded to follow them but Gon stopped her and said, "Don't follow them! They have to talk this out themselves!"

"But I'm not gonna stop them. I just want to see the drama." Sachiko told him before running out to the deck.

'Is she serious,' Gon thought.

When Sachiko got to the deck, Leorio and Kurapika were already fighting.

The storm was getting worse, a big wave washed over the deck just now but Kurapika and Leorio didn't budge. The crew were trying to hold onto the sail but one slipped and got carried by the storm.

Leorio and Kurapika went on to grab the crewman but they were out of range. Gon swiftly jumped and caught him while Kurapika and Leorio caught Gon.

Just when they thought it was over, a giant octopus monster came out of the ocean and attacked the three with its tendrils.

"What...what is that thing?!" Gon shouted.

The captain who was watching the scene quietly had turned serious, frightened even.

The octopus monster wrapped Gon and Kurapika in his tendrils and started to squeeze them.

"Is that a sea monster? Sh*t, what's wrong with my luck?" Sachiko cursed at her luck. 'I need to do something or we will all die, probably.'

Sachiko concentrated on creating a sharp dagger with her cursed energy and controlled it to cut the tendrils off.

Although the dagger was sharp, it was too small.

'I need to create a bigger weapon. But I need more time.' Sachiko knew if she wanted to create something else, she needed more time to concentrate. But then, Gon and Kurapika might die if she took too long.

'Guess I have no choice but to use this then.' Sachiko quickly took off the bandages around her left eye and stared at the monster. She imagined time passing slower. At the same time, she tried to create a sword with her cursed energy. After ten or more tries, Sachiko successfully created a sword and maintained its shape as it attacked the monster and cut the tendrils off to save Gon and Kurapika. Sachiko then sliced it in half to finish it off. It would've taken at least ten minutes but Sachiko found that only one minute passed.

'Did my new cursed technique work?' She thought as she felt herself becoming drained. She quickly checked her status.

"Name : Nakamura Sachiko

Alias : None.

Age : 19

Relationships : None.

Hunter level : Not accessible yet.

Jujutsu sorcerer level : Not accessible yet.

Cursed technique : Cursed energy manipulation (Novice), Time Manipulation Eyes (Novice)

Cursed energy : 0/1000

Cursed energy reserves rank : E

Curse points : 0

Cursed tools : None.

Skills : None."

'My cursed energy is empty now? No wonder I am drained.' Sachiko sighed as she put the bandages back around her left eye. Her cursed energy had completely been refilled when the storm started. She used about 50 units of cursed energy to keep her steady during the storm. She used cursed energy manipulation technique to create a dagger but after a try and finding out it wasn't working she absorbed that cursed energy back, so she probably only used about ten units of cursed energy for the dagger. She then made a sword with her cursed energy. But she didn't think it would use up more than fifty units.

'Was it time manipulation eye?' Sachiko thought it made sense. She probably slowed the time for about nine minutes. If her calculation is correct, her new cursed technique would use around 100 units per minute she used.

'That's terrifyingly high.' Sachiko wanted to cry, because she only had 1000 units and now she had none of it left.

Just when she was about to really cry, system notification rang in her ears.

'Congratulations, host has killed an F rank sea monster for the first time. Host receives a random reward. Do you want to open it?'

'Yes.'

'Random reward opened. Host received Intermediate sword skill (Novice level).'

Sachiko wanted to ask more about the skill she just received but Gon and Kurapika were coming towards her.

"That was so cool, Nakamura san! You totally saved me! Thank you!!" Gon said with a smile.

"But where did the sword come from? I didn't see you carrying a sword." He asked.

"Well, umm..that's one of my..abilities." Sachiko answered. She remembered people from this world uses nen. So, she just acted like she used her nen ability.

Gon seemed like he wanted to ask her more but Sachiko could feel the tiredness kicking in. Sne could only say she wanted to rest now.

Gon nodded reluctantly.

Kurapika said, "Thank you. For saving my life."

"Well, you're welcome!" Sachiko said with a smile before going back to the room.

The captain didn't stop her, he just quickly announced that all four of them passed.
