The view from the balcony was phenomenal, a city that never sleeps. The darkened buildings that were lit up from the window to create a beautiful golden glow that surrounded the entire area. But something about it was different this time, there seemed to be more color on the darkened buildings and the glow seemed much brighter and livelier to Deacon. The trees on the hills to the wildlife roaming around in them, Deacon could see it all like it was daylight.
After getting some fresh air and calming down Deacon started to slowly come to terms with the new life he would be living from now. How bad could it be, his vision and hearing were already ten times better than before and, he had finally started to get control over his body and hearing. Now all he has to do is to focus a little bit and he can pick out what he wants to listen to.
"Deacon starting tomorrow we are going to get you caught up on everything involving magic and the supernatural. It is going to take quite some time, so I hope you are prepared." Arthur said as he tossed a drink to Deacon.
"Wait, if I am a vampire how am I able to drink and eat normally. I thought vampires drank blood."
"Like I said before I don't know much about vampires dude, its not like I can just buy a 'how to train you vampire' book" Arthur laughed.
"Very funny, but its not like I know anything either. The only knowledge I have on the topic is old fantasy books and so far, it's been 50/50 on what's right and what's wrong on all of this." Deacon said with a tiny bit of spite.
"Fine, I will try to find someone who knows something about vampires to come and help you but until then you are going to have to try to figure some things out on your own alright." Said Arthur
As Arthur turned around to go find out who might know about vampires, he left Deacon alone on the balcony once again. As Deacon was left in his thoughts, he started to think about what he knew about vampires and what he could test out. Then it hit him, vampires are thought to be immortal and regenerate so could he regenerate. To test this out he bit down on the tip of his thumb until it bled. As the blood dripped down from his thumb, he felt a slightly warm sensation on it and very soon the bleeding stopped.
"Well that sure is useful, but I wonder on what scale do things heal. I know my stab wound healed but what about a broken arm or a missing finger." As he thought about that he decided to try it another time when he could afford to.
He decided to head back inside the house or to be more accurate the mansion that Arthur lived in. He could never get used to seeing it up close, it was a sight to behold. It was a beautiful grey brick mansion that was too large for just one person to live in, but it was only Arthur that lived here. It used to be his families place, but they all passed away a few years back in what the media called 'an accident'. Arthur always knew better and always tried to find the ones responsible.
Deacon always felt bad for Arthur but could never really understand since he never had a family of his own. He was raised in an orphanage until he was old enough to take care of himself and leave. He never really had anyone that cared about him other than Emily and Arthur. They were the only ones to seem to care for him and treat him like a normal person and not some charity case or a person with no future. They just saw him as a good person and didn't give him any special treatment and that is what he admired about them.
As Deacon was walking through the mansion, he decided to test out some other things and headed outside where he could move freely and unhindered. As he walked out the doors, he dashed off slowly getting even better control over his body, he was sprinting and weaving through the dense area of trees. He didn't even realize how fast he was moving until he caught a new scent and ran towards it, as he approached he saw that it was a deer but he also saw that it seemed to be moving oddly slow compared to normal deer. It wasn't so slow that it was barley moving but it was as if it was moving at half speed.
When he approached the deer, it turned to run but soon found itself unable to move as Deacon had grabbed it by its antlers. It was exhilarating to be able to move that fast and catch a deer by its antlers, he soon let the deer go and tried to climb a tree. As he walked up to it, he bent his legs and jumped to see how high he could get, he saw that he could jump about 10 feet high before he fell back down on his butt. After he got up, he approached the tree again and put his fingers against the bark as he pushed in and made a fist taking an inch or two of the tree with him.
'What the hell, this is awesome. Why aren't people begging to become a vampire, I mean the drinking blood seems very off putting but the feeling of being able to do things like this is incredible.' Is all Deacon could think of at the moment as he was having an adrenaline high from everything he was doing.
After he started to calm down, he felt a bit exhausted physically and mentally, so he decided to head back to Arthurs place and lay down. When he got back, he could see Arthur freaking out for some reason. As he ran up and tapped Arthur on the shoulder, he got a swift kick in the knee and an ice blade pressed to the neck before Arthur realized who it was.
"Deacon thank god you are okay; you can't run off and then sneak up on me like that. I thought someone took you, a newborn vampire is honestly insanely valuable to a lot of people and with you not knowing much about vampires and what you can do I feared the worst." Arthur said quite rushed as he melted the ice blade.
"I'm alright I just ran off into the woods for a bit to test some things. Also why is a new vampire valuable, I now know that we are faster and stronger but other than that what else." Deacon asked quite puzzled.
"From what I do know vampires are better physically than most people, but their blood is also very useful for alchemy and enchanting. The reason people want a new vampire is because they are very easy to influence if they have no idea about magic and, if just like in your case they aren't yet used to their body they could be taken forcefully." Said Arthur with a hint of worry.
"All right I get it, I won't go running off again, but it was amazing, I caught a deer by the antlers dude."
The two walked back inside chatting away before heading their separate ways for the night to sleep. As Deacon was about to drift off, he decided to close the curtains all the way and move his bed away from the window just in case. He could never be to careful when it came to his life anymore, the only person he trusts is Arthur and that is because he had saved his life when he really didn't have to. If Arthur needs to use him in the future for anything Deacon would gladly be there for his one and only friend.
'Just wait Arthur I will make this all up to you one day.' And with that thought Deacon finally drifted to sleep for the night eagerly awaiting the start of his lessons tomorrow.
