Chapter 3 - Reckoning

A Trooper opens the tent flaps enough for me to walk in and then closes it because it is snowing outside. It has been two months since I first woke up on this planet to take it over, and I believe we are going along well. We have conquered about half of this land which is pretty much just an island compared to the other continents. The locals explain this under brutal interrogation from the toys the tech-gurus have created. That's also the reason why we have conquered so much because of the information that has been given to us. Like for instance the inhabitants of this planet drop stat point orbs when they die. If you consume them like swallowing a marble you get a portion of their stats. And let me tell you, they hardly give you any stats on this island. I only have gotten 50 points worth in strength from them after two months. From what we have learned, certain races give you certain stats.

The unit of F.E.A.R operatives has been sent around the continent as a forward group to scout everything as well as mapping everything. This is to find the best places to attack from. Though from the weaponry, the natives use on this continent at the very least is very primitive. So, we could just go big dick and split our forces and get everything as fast as possible.

"Report," I said authoritatively.

"Right away, your majesty. The castle has been surrounded for several days now. The troops you have brought back from the mountain castle siege in the west will be more than enough to storm this castle but, the Arcadians shall be getting here within the hour from their previous mission to bring down the castle on the coast to the south. Shall we wait for them before starting since this is the biggest castle on this continent?" Athena said right away.

"Hmm, we don't have to wait. It should be a cakewalk with how outgunned these people are. Since there is a new moon out tonight. Let us wait till nighttime settles before we start anything to be sure. Your thoughts?" I said thoughtfully

"That is what I thought as well." She said nodding.

"Come now, don't think you get brownie points just for agreeing with me, Athena," I said jokingly.

"Of course, I would not dream of such things, your majesty." She said while sounding somewhat disappointed

I laugh heartedly.

"Good. At least you know." Armen chimes in after being silent for a bit. Which gets a glare from Athena.

"Now, now children no in-fighting, let us be civilized. Unlike these native dogs. They would rather actively sacrifice their people for personal gain than strive to move forward with a common goal." I said with disdain.

"Yes, your majesty." They both replied with seriousness in their voice. Because they have seen over the two months the amount of disdain I have for people who are greedy and are detrimental to their race.

I look outside the flaps of the entrance and all I see is white from the heavy snowing and I can't even see the torches outside past 2 meters. "Ok, it's time. Get the troopers ready for the assault, Athena. Have them use the scopes that the tech-gurus made to see someone's innate mana to see them in this storm because a thermal scope won't be useful during this fight. Mainly because I plan on using some fire magic to start us off. Have the troopers stop at around 100 meters out and set up into a firing line. Anything that comes out of that castle is fair game. Now Armen set your guys around the castle a good enough distance to make sure there are no escapees from any rat tunnels. We shall burn them out into the open." I finally said after a minute of silence.

"Right away, your majesty." They both bow and leave the tent hurriedly to prepare. If people were observant, you could see the grins on their faces for the battle to come.

'This is the last castle on the continent. There have been, what was it like 21 in total. So, this place would finally be under my control.' I say to myself with resolute resolve. Then finally step outside the tent and make my way over to the battlements with two Arcadians in tow as guards. I mean, they could probably kill anything on this planet with ease so just two of them as my guard should be fine. I flap my wings with enough force to land on the battlements with ease. "This should be a good place to watch this battle. Hey, trooper. Bring me a chair." The trooper walking past me stops and bows.

"Right away your majesty." He says then salutes and rushes away to the storage tent. He finally gets back right before the attack battle begins.

"Good now you can return to your patrol," I said

"Yes, your majesty." He replies with a salute and walks the way he previously was going.

I take a seat and my two Arcadian guards remain at my side unwavering. I then spot the soldiers with my heightened senses-which is quite nifty to have. So, being a demon ogre isn't all bad news. The soldiers are quietly making their way to the wall on the east side. They are about 20 meters out now.

"Ok, let us start this shindig shall we."

I get up from my seat and flap my wings with enough force to get me a good way into the sky. I then proceed to cast {Helfire Storm} as giant magic circles appear around me 10 meters from one end to the other. They start revolving around me in differentiating paths of travel, and I speak the required chant Flammas inferni vocat facere iubente. Monstra in orbis speciem tuam splendide docuerunt simul. Maria ignis infernalis. Then the magic circles around me condense into me and I open my hand toward the castle. A giant red magic circle appears above the castle covering the whole thing and glowing brighter by the second.

The next second all hell breaks loose quite literally. Whiteish blue flames start shooting out of the magic circle down on the whole castle burning anything it touched even stone. It turned the whole castle into a sea of whiteish blue fire that didn't look like it would burn out anytime soon. The only safe place to be is outside the castle.

I finally have seen enough of my artwork from up here, so I fall slowly to where I left and sit back down. I let out a sigh of contentment causing the two guards to look at each other then turned their look to me and had a rather strange look on their face.

I notice this and ask, "What, is there something on my face?"

One of them replied," Oh, no your majesty, we're just perturbed at your reaction to the castle being set on fire."

"Ahh that, I just find it to be a sort of artwork that I have just finished and felt content with the finished product," I replied to them nonchalantly.

"…. We see your majesty, thank you." They bowed and returned to their silent selves.

I just shrug, whatever floats your boat, guys. Anyways, it's about time they made their move to come outside.

Just then people start flooding out of the castle charging at our camp, but it is going as according to plan so this is going to be a wrap for this castle with that. I then cancel the magic. I get up and start heading to the war room to wait for the good news. Then the gunshots start sounding off. I then start humming while walking leisurely back to the tent with my two guards in tow.

As I sit down in the lead chair a lieutenant from the void marines comes in the flaps of the tents and bows "Pardon me, your majesty. We are back from our mission, and I came here to report." Said the rather big guy.

"Ahh, good timing. Straighten your back and give me your report."

"Yes, your majesty." He stands up straight. "The castle is no more we flattened it. And everyone inside is dead." He said rather bluntly.

"You all did well. Get some rest for the rest of the night and get ready tomorrow a little before noon," I replied.

"Yes, your majesty." He bowed again then got up and left without another word.

'Seems like a nice fellow. I should start learning the names of the important figures of my army. Hmm. Guess that is something I need to work on overtime sadly.'

I then look at the map in front of me of this continent and I think the locals called it Aetraes, which is smaller in size compared to the other continents. Then next to the map is another map of all the known continents. Seems this planet is on the larger side of things. The Fear recon unit I sent around said this place is at least bigger than the United States. And they say this continent is small compared to the other ones, haha funny one guys. I wonder where I should make my capital at. The most common thing is to make it at the center of the country in most countries from my previous life. Though that concept was rather later replaced with a strategic location concept. Like could the location be easily defendable to outside forces? If no, then look for something else kiddo. If yes, then good for you, you got it easy. I more than likely will make a giant castle-type capital. It must be on a hill naturally. I should be writing this down, to be honest, my memory is shit.

Then. in comes Athena with blood and dirt all over her. Sheesh, can't you get clean first?

"Your majesty we have successfully defeated the enemies." She said excitedly while bowing slightly.

"Yes. yes, good work. Now go get yourself cleaned up; you're tracking in a mess. I bet you went into melee combat again didn't you?" I replied narrowing my eyes

She lowers her gaze feeling embarrassed "I did no such things, your majesty." She said while fidgeting.

"You're bad at lying. Athena." I said with a sigh "Look, we've been through this before. You should start using a gun or learn some magic, so you don't have to deal with being covered in someone else's blood after every battle. You don't have to go into melee combat every chance you get. Sometimes it's best to let your troops do the dirty work for them to get more experience. Right?" I ask her

"Yes, your majesty." She says with a downcast gaze.

"Now don't look like a puppy being set out in the rain for being bad, ok? It is best to learn things early rather than regretting them later." I said with a bit of sadness in my voice.

She looks at me and has a surprised expression after seeing my face with a hint of pain on it, then hers changes to one of understanding as she knows where the pain is coming from. "Yes, your majesty. Thank you for educating this pup while she is young." She gives a deep bow and leaves to get cleaned off.

Sigh. 'There I go remembering the past again in the spur-of-a-moment conversation. I need to learn to keep my past and present separately. Maybe there is a spell that can do it or maybe I can use the magic in this world to mess with the system to add a new tab that can store memories to get it out of the way…hmm could be interesting to research later while I have time to think about such things. Now is time to start my new kingdom so let us focus on setting up everything there.'

[Ding! You have officially conquered a whole continent. You have obtained 10 summoning tickets. You now can start a new kingdom from scratch and work your way up the world ladder to become the sole God Emperor of the world. Make sure to work hard and conquer more continents so you can summon more fun stuff.]

'So, I get more summoning tickets the more I conquer. That shouldn't be hard if I keep getting good summons as the ones have gotten so far. Though I will sleep on the summoning for now it has been a long day, hah.'

The next morning, I wake up to the sound of people moving around and chattering while doing their morning routine. 'Haha, I hate morning people so much. But that's just the way of life I live in nowadays.' I get up and stretch my whole body to get the stiffness out of my body for how bad these beds are in this world. 'I think that's the first thing we need to improve upon in this world. Better beds. If I don't leave anything in the world least let me improve the beds before I go. It is like a form of torture to make people use these things.

I step out of my tent and do one final stretch before getting greeted by Armen who happened to be walking by toward the war tent.

"Fancy meeting you here, Armen," I said jokingly.

"Good morning, your majesty." He bows and continues. "I was just making my way to the war tent to finish writing the report about the battle from last night. To have it for the future in case we need anything from my perspective." He spoke.

"Ahh, how insightful. You shall go places in the future if you keep this up Armen." I continued joking.

"Haha, you jest your majesty. This is all I ever want and more." He said with a smile

"Oh, so you know how to smile how strange."

"What do you mean I smile all the time," he said defensively. "You just never see it because of the antics you pull." He said in rebuttal.

"Ahah, that is true. I do love messing with people in more ways than one." I said truthfully. "Now shall we make our way to the war tent, so we stop blocking traffic?" I said noticing people trying to go around us in this small pathway.

"Oh, yes let us make our way over there. After you, your majesty." He says and makes way for me to go first.

"I'll take you up on that offer," I said smiling.

After a few minutes, we arrive at the war tent. And as it turns out Athena was already here with the same idea as Armen.

"Good morning, your majesty." She gives me a head bow then continues her paperwork.

"And a good morning to you as well, Athena." I smile brightly "Let us work to our heart's content till lunch then I have something to announce to everyone." I say firmly.
