"I brewed your favorite coffee, Your Majesty. I also have some baked cookies. Perhaps it will appeal to your preferences." Forget about the palace's same sweets. I'm fed up with their faces and cookings.
"How did you brew this one?"
"Pour warm water just half a cup, add 2 teaspoon of sugar, stir it up before adding 1 teaspoon of powdered white caramel cream." Maybe the caramel added the balance taste as it's also salty and at the same time, sweet.
The cookies weren't hot nor cold either. It has a soft texture that can melt into the tongue quickly. The taste was well balanced. Sweet and salty.
"It's called, Cookies Delight, Your Majesty. The black ones are the chocolates that are bittersweet. While the cookie itself has a peanut butter ingredient that was stirred well by my sister."
"You seem to know your style." I can't say anything as she did well on her first try. I was hoping to find a fault, but I can't see any holes.
"I practiced hard as I wanted everyone to taste it. It would be a waste if a talent can't be that useful." The fact that she has a point makes me want to chuckle.
"What if it doesn't suit my taste? Will you be able to please me by other sweets that I've tasted already?"
"If you consume too many sweets, salty chips will help to balanced out the sweetness. It should be balance as the tongue gets fed up easily." That's something I've never considered before; perhaps my brain isn't functioning properly at that time. I was agitated as I'm fed up with the faces of people in the palace.
The individuals in the palace are what the term ANNOYING would be if it were a human being. Knights pounding their feet in the middle of the night, swords clicking as if a battle is taking place. My sister, whom I despise seeing. My father, who is pressuring us to marry, and Lithia's repurposed maids are a source of irritation for me.
"You're smart." I said as I drink my coffee.
"As I should. Or Her Majesty wouldn't be satisfied with my performance." I know the struggle of wanting to satisfy a princess who never gets satisfied.
"Aren't you scared that I might ruin your confidence by telling you, that you're not good enough?"
"I'm not good enough because I did my best. So I was rather BEST than just GOOD, Your Majesty. Because you're simply a visitor in our manor, I'm convinced you won't do anything deplorable."
"Your Majesty should know how to wear a fake personality when needed." Did I find a person that shares with my personality?
..
No. Too Far.
But to think about it, She approached me swiftly to dispel the dead atmosphere. That's a bonus points for being attentive. She anticipated that if she took too long, I would be dissatisfied, so she prepared treats that would take at least a minute to prepare.
I didn't expect her to respond to my questions in the way she did. I want to break her confidence by asking. But as soon as she took care of those matters and even advised me to put on a fake personality when necessary, I knew there was something that I didn't get to know.
"I do not know, what your brother may have told you, but are you certain that your remarks may scare me? I'm a princess that fears nothing."
"Indeed, that Princess fears nothing. However, I pose no threat to Her Majesty. I'm simply saying what I'm thinking because I don't want to appear phony in front of you. In order to acquire your trust, that is." Talking about trust is a far discussion for the person I just met.
It took Luna five years to earn my respect. Her expressions usually catch-me-off-guard because she shares my mindset. With the exception of when other nobility is joining, she wears her mask.
"I had a lot of fun conversing with the Lady of Rosenblitz. However, trust must be earned rather than given. I appreciate your kindness in exchange. If you're not too busy, let's discuss some more in the future." Her eyes widened as if it's glistening.
"YES, YOUR MAJESTY." I can feel her little chuckles as she placed her fingers, covering her lips slightly.
"Greetings Lady Camilla, I'm Lady Helvetica's companion. Serina Ainsworth." She bows as I sip my coffee. Despite the fact that I never ask her to identify herself, this brave maid has the audacity to stand boldly without my assistance.
"Ainsworth is such a known family. You have my respect. Also, my late deepest condolences to the Baron and baroness." Respecting a maid, what a rare sight.
"Rather than that, I thank the house of Rosenblitz for inviting the princess." Serina said as she smiles.
"I expected Her Majesty would decline because she is preoccupied with her own affairs. I'm glad that you accompanied Princess Helvetica." The vibe between them is beginning to pique my interest.
As if some flowers are blooming in Camilla's side and thorns are rising in Serina's.
"That's the job of someone who works for Her Majesty." Serina bows slowly as she sits back.
"I hope you're enjoying your time, Princess." Who wouldn't? It's fascinating to observe how well they get along.
As she left to entertain some guests, Serina sighs heavily as she laid her head on the table. "Your Majesty, I don't like her stares." She said as if I'm talking to a kid who's complaining to her mother.
"She has the same stares like Lady Luna's it's scary."
"And my stares weren't?" She looks at me as she looks into my eyes. "Yours is the most terrifying one, Your Highness." As I gaze out the window, I stifle a small laugh.
"It's getting late. We should head back soon." Normally, I am unconcerned about the time. I just don't want my obnoxious father to sneer at my lovely features.
"Your Majesty is quite fond of Lady Camilla."
"She reminds me of Luna, but a hardworking one. You might not notice, but her hands are mildly shakings as she's trying to entertain me with words. Her eyes are scared, but still manage to speak as if she's confident enough."
"I thought she might be just like you instead, but both of you are different. You have thorns to protect you while she has nothing, but flowers surround her."
Camilla might be the weakest creature I've ever encountered. While my sister possesses the qualities that make her appealing. She resembles a sunflower with roses and thorns.
You can't compare me to a regular floret since I'm the most rare goddess you'll ever see.
"Can I come in, Your Majesty?" A soft voice caught my attention. "You can." As soon as she enters, she bows to the extent of kneeling.
Now that's what I call respect. "Cynthia Rosenblitz at your service, Your Majesty." She gets our plates as I look at her hands.
"Wasn't it the maid's job to collect our plates?" I asked, but she responds with a smile instead. "It's the only way to talk with Her Highness." Did I mention how strange these siblings are?
"I can hear my sister's fast heartbeat in a mile. Her anxiousness must be the reason why." As I thought. Serina closes her eyes as I could feel her relief. Maybe she's also scared that Lady Camilla is a spoiled brat.
"However, I'm relieved that she didn't mess up." She smiles as she stacks the plates. I stand up as soon as I saw the moon's rising. "I have to go. It'll be such a big pain if I don't come home."
"I understand, Your Majesty. I hope you had a great time."
"Your sister is such an interesting lady." To think that she can deceive my maid—
As I twist the doorknob, Carien, their brother was about to knock on the room. "I'm sorry, Your Majesty. But your carriage's already here." Right on time.
"I'm looking forward for more invitations. Future Duke of Rosenblitz." I said as I bow slightly. "I will make sure to invite you, Princess Helvetica. Along with Princess Lithia." He responds.
"Appreciated." As I went off of their manor, Lady Camilla runs towards me as she bows, forgetting the proper etiquette of the family.
"Please take care on your way home," She's barely breathing, but manage to see me off. "Your sister said you were nervous." Her cheeks flushed as she looks embarrassed.
"I'm sorry for acting that way, Your Majesty."
"Just like you said, we need to wear a false identity in tough situations." As I step into the carriage, I glanced at her for the last time.
"This might be above average entertainment, Lady of Rosenblitz. I admire the bravery." And with that, I step inside as the carriage runs smoothly.
