Sophia looked tearfully as they approached the familiar building.
She could see Pearl!!! Standing in front of the mansion. Some maids were by her side. Probably there to welcome her in.
Before, Williams could stop the car, She burst out and flies into Pearl's open arms, crying.
Pearl rolled her eyes as she hugged her back.
Sophia pulled back to look at Pearl. Pearl kept an almost sincere, meek expression.
"Oh Pearl" She hugged her again. "I've missed you. So much. So so much"
"I've missed you more little sister but do we really have to hug like this now....I mean we have to go inside right ?...and unpack"
Sophia hugged her tighter. "Ok. Just that I can't get over the fact that I'm actually here. I'm really In my sister's arms. I thought I would never see you again"
'I thought the same too' Pearl bitterly remarked in her mind.
She pushed her away, slightly and forced a smile at her.
At that moment, Williams comes forward with a big pink duffel bag.
Pearl stared at it like it was a rag.
"Is this yours" She asked Sophia with a sour expression.
Sophia grabbed the bag and hung it appreciatively.
"Yes it's mine. All my things are here" Then she looks at Williams. "Thank you so much Williams"
"Just doing my job Miss Smith?" Then he bows and leaves.
"Did he just call you 𝑺𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒉??"
"Long story" Sophia giggled.
As they made their way inside, Pearl stopped.
"What are you doing" She asked Sophia almost coldly.
"What"
"Why are you carrying that thing" She waved her hands in the air. "Give it to one of the maids"
"But I can carry it. It's not that heavy"
Pearl's mouth dropped open. Even the maids stared at her as if she was an alien.
"You want to carry the bag? You don't feel tired or....Are you sure you don't want to give that to the maids" Pearl asked.
"I'm fine Pearl. Not unless...you want to carry it"
Pearl's heart beat fast as the bag came close to her face. Gross!!! She had a distaste/ more of a fear of things that were cheap and lacked design....And so did Sophia. She was wondering if Sophia was really in her right mind.
She slightly stepped back and forced a smile.
"Of course not. If you want to carry the bag, it's fine. You can go in now, the maids will show you to your room"
Sophia stood there clutching the bag.
"Why won't you come with me. We have so much to talk about. Where are you going"
"I'm here Sophia. I just want to make a few business calls. I'll be with you in a moment"
"Ok. Business? Mmmmm" She smirked. Wow!!! Her sister had started handling business matters. Just like Dad. When would she get to handle business matters like her??"Hurry" She adds quickly. Then she walks in ,looking about the mansion like she was entering an unfamiliar new building. But her joy knew no bounds.
.....𝑰'𝒎 𝒇𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆......
.......
A maid remained by her side. Unlike other maids, she had a nice white lacy material around the waist of the stiff black knee-length gown, evident that she was her personal maid.
".....I'm going out for a stroll around the neighborhood. I want a hot water bath to be prepared for her as soon as possible. And order a new wardrobe for her. Ask her the type of clothes she wants and shoes. Don't forget shoes as well. Make sure she feels at home. Make sure she's comfortable and well fed" Then she pauses. "Do I make myself clear, Martha?"
She bows. "Yes Boss"
She starts leaving through the big golden gates. She stops and turns. Martha was still standing there waiting for Pearl to dismiss her.
".....You can go...oh! And .....when she's done unpacking, be sure to burn that thing she came in with"
Martha squeezed her face. "Her bag boss?"
"Was that a bag" There was a disgusted look on her face. "Looked more of a rag. I don't want to return and see it again. Burn it!!!"
