"Who...was that?" Ye Jun asked.
Min Jae had left some minutes ago, totally ignoring Ye Jun with a slight smile plastered on his lips. Nari, who was organizing books, stopped for a second. She glanced at him from the corner of her eyes and started working again, totally ignoring him.
Ye Jun wasn't angry at all with her actions. He looked at her and kept looking. Her eyes looked huge now that she was concentrating on her work, a ghost of a smile on her lips kept blinking as she felt satisfied with her work. Since the day he had seen her, in the principal cabin, in the classroom and even on the ground, she had a tense face. But right now, she looked nonchalant. He didn't want this time to end, he didn't want to live in reality. Cause at the end, in reality, he knew how much Nari hated him and he was the reason behind her soon suspension and all the worries too.
The smile on his face vanished away and he sighed slightly. He blinked, she didn't seem to notice him even a bit. For her, he was like air, present but not really. He didn't mind it at all though, as long as he was near her.
"Work done?" The teacher came in, pulling Ye Jun out of his thoughts.
They both looked at the teacher who smiled. Nari nodded and Ye Jun scratched the back of his neck hesitating a bit. The teacher shook his head as he understood what Ye Jun meant.
"Yah! It was you who wanted to volunteer."
Ye Jun looked down his hands in front and he bowed down multiple times, apologising. Nari looked at him from the corner of her eyes and he did the same.
"Can you still do it?" He asked Ye Jun one last time.
Ye Jun nodded vigorously.
"Okay then, Nari, you can go home. And Ye Jun, you do your work quickly and leave soon."
"Yes!" Nari replied energetically while Ye Jun looked at her, who left without hesitation.
Ye Jun thumped his fist on the bundle of books in front of him which he had to organise on the shelf. He shook his head.
"Ah! How to organize them? What was I even thinking when I said yes?" He mumbled.
Sighing again he picked up the bundle of ten thick books and walked lazily towards the shelves.
"History section." He mumbled and put a book there.
"Scie-science? Ah! It's upstairs. Who messed up the books like this?!" He mumbled being frustrated
He went upstairs and suddenly found someone snatching a book from the pile he was holding.
"Uh-" He paused as he saw Nari standing beside him and organising the book.
His eyes again got stuck on the girl who was busy organising the books. He stood there holding the books and walked along with her following her in the whole library.
Soon, within thirty minutes all the books were organized. And Nari headed outside while Ye Jun followed her with his monotonously shocked face. Nari came back to help him, even though she hates him? It didn't make sense in the back of his head. Keeping his hands in his pocket he followed her outside the school campus.
They walked quietly on the street with Ye Jun stealing glances of Nari from time to time. Nari's eyes strictly looked in front of the footpath and at the sky. The silence wasn't eerie but comforting. He didn't want to talk about anything which could upset her. He didn't want her to leave him alone again. He was happy as long as she walked beside him, even if she didn't utter a word. Maybe, it was the time he should realise that he loved her. But he was hesitant.
Walking slowly, it was Nari who broke the silence.
"Don't misunderstand." She gritted her teeth. As she found him walking beside her with a ghost of a smile on his face.
"Uh?" He raised his brows.
"I came back cause I didn't want to go home early."
"Yes." He nodded and looked in front.
"But, you really don't know how to organize books?"
"Yes." He scratched his head and scoffed silly.
Nari nodded, she didn't tease him for this. Ye Jun was surprised. He thought being a model student she would make fun of him because he was unaware of such a petty skill. But on the contrary, she just simply nodded. But maybe it could've been that she hated him and found it uninteresting to talk to him about anything.
Shrugging at his own thoughts he looked down. He didn't realise when they crossed the street, Nari didn't utter another word after that. They kept walking and Ye Jun finally looked up when Nari stopped walking. He looked at her and then in front, they had arrived already.
"Your house?" She asked.
"Oh, I- I don't live here." He hesitated and she frowned.
"Then why did you come here?" She was frustrated.
"I just- need to go to this side." He pointed at the small alley beside her house.
Nari nodded slightly, showing lesser interest. Without even saying goodbye or good night she went inside. Ye Jun pouted as he looked at the gate from which she had gone inside just now.
"Let's go, Ye, Jun-ah. Or else you'll be late for dinner." He mumbled and ran back to the street from where they had come.
~~~~~~
Nari was lying on her bed in her own house. She had come back from work a while ago and was contemplating if she should order food or make it. But between her thoughts, the memories played and she frowned slightly.
"You didn't even approach that alley, liar. Tch!" She said.
After Nari had gone inside that day, she peeked from behind the wall of her house. She could see Ye Jun standing and staring at the gate of her house for a while until he mumbled something and ran back to where they had come from. Nari wondered why he had lie to her. And even if he lied then that day, when she was crying in front of her house, how did he pop up out of nowhere. She frowned at her thoughts and mumbled.
"That Liar."
