Matthew's POINT OF VIEW
It looks like he saw a ghost on the dance floor, but when I bring my eyes in the
crowd to follow the direction of his gaze, my pupils dilate when I cross the figure of Charlie standing in front of my sister as they approach in our direction.
I hold my breath running along her body sideways, while I bring the bottle back under the
nose, not refraining from squeezing the glass between my fingers hard when my eyes
end up on her thin, pale legs, but so bare that I don't like at all what I'm watching.
I bring my head back again with the beer between my lips, but without stopping x raying her whole body, going up to her belly hidden by the tissue of the black dress she decided to
wear to attract the attention of all the men who now surround her.
My fingers begin to wrap around the bottle with more force as soon as I pull it away from my lips and I take on an annoyed expression as my eyes land on
the obscene neckline that reveals the shape of her breasts.
Her skin is so bare that I grit my teeth when I notice many of Taylor's friends turn to her with a perverted look.
"She's so beautiful." - Ian's words come straight to my ear as soon as my gaze ends
on the very long hair that hide her small shoulder blades, but instead of continuing to
look at her like most of the stoned around me, I hurry to launch
a dirty look at my partner, who reacts with a confused expression.
Up until now, I was the only one who had seen Charlie's body, but apparently she's not much
different from the other whores that buzz around me.
I get up from the sofa in front of Ian's confused gaze, without deigning a word to my sister and
Charlotte as they approach my partner, and then I walk away from there with the
beer in my hand as I go in search of an extrange woman among Taylor's friends.
I need to be distracted tonight and the red-lipped blonde looking at me while
going down the stairs seems to understand this, so I slowly walk in her direction without
looking over my shoulder to avoid regretting my decision.
I clench my jaw for the umpteenth time, continuing to return her doe gaze
while I throw my head back and suck in the rest of the liquid contained in the bottle, then
bend one corner of the mouth upwards to make her understand to follow me as soon as I pass her and I start climbing the stairs to reach the rooms on the first floor.
Charlotte's POINT OF VIEW
"Stay a little longer, come on!" - Tessa screams with so much force that it doesn't take long
to understand that she is drunk, but instead of trying to get her to come with me I decide to
leave her to Ian's care.
«Look at him as he stares at you.» - she bursts out laughing as she points her index finger behind me, at which I roll my eyes and take a quick glance at Ian to make sure my friend arrives
alive at home:
"Keep an eye on her." - I literally beg him, but I give him time to nod slowly
while he continues to move at the rhythm of the music next to my friend, and then turn my back to them both and take a serious expression when I notice Tessa wasn't lying.
I don't think I know him, but a dark man I see for the first time in my life has put his
eyes on my legs, even if he is forced to cross my eyes when he notices that I cross my arms to my chest in a rage.
I curse him in a low voice as soon as I see him look away, then I hurry to turn my heels
and walk to the entrance of Taylor's house to return to my apartment.
I laugh at the thought of wanting to lose my virginity tonight, when
instead I have threatened every single man who tried to dance within a meter of
distance from my body.
And when I didn't notice someone starting or courting me, Ian got ready
to pull out the nails in a protective way.
I have not given up and I am sure that one day I will be touched by someone that isn't perverted like Paul or bastard like my boss.
I spied on him as he walked away with that woman without deigning to give me a look,
but I'm sure he had better things to do than notice my change.
I feel different than usual, but I didn't put on this short dress to be noticed by Matthew.
In fact, I knew he wasn't going to calculate me tonight, but after the way he
treated me last night made me believe that something in him had changed.
'I don't want to see this on you anymore. '- he said outspokenly, making me understand that he
hates my sweatshirts, but apparently hates me regardless even with a short dress
on.
"Do you want to tell me your name?" - I stop on my feet and look around with my eyelids
open wide, but I understand that the same guy that was watching at me a little while ago is addressing me when
I turn my back on my car.
"No." - I say with an obvious tone, hardening my expression as soon as I meet his eyes,
but I don't have time to turn my back on him casually and open the door of
my car, that his footsteps behind me make me turn back in his direction.
"Come on, I've been waiting for you for hours." - he says with such a mischievous tone that I don't know whether to escape
with my car and go home as soon as possible without speaking to him, or
slapping him to make him understand who he is dealing with.
I opt for the second option when I see him take another step forward, but I don't have
time to shoot the first swear word, that a familiar voice attracts the attention of
both of us:
"Need a ride?"
The hoarse tone of his voice forces me to clench my fingers in two fists and cross his
eyes from afar, noticing that he is serenely leaning against the pillar near the door,
while he squeezes a cigarette between his lips without moving his eyes from those of the dark man close me,
at the exact moment when the stranger next to me takes a step back to get away,
like he knew my bastard boss, but when the way he went away with that woman returns to my thoughts, I hasten to open my mouth with a cold tone,
while I give him my back to get into my car without thinking twice:
"I'm not Tessa."
