After a long round, I found myself half alive. I'm just lying on the bed. I don't even know why I'm already here. As far as I can remember, I was on the floor begging and crying. Enduring every pain he gave me.
My naked skin was full of bites and hickeys, even though it was covered by a blanket. I know it can't be hidden.
His breathing, his skin, his touch—everything is in my head. I couldn't erase what had happened. Though we couldn't call it a honeymoon because it's not the way it was. It was more like a nightmare to me.
My body can't move to what I want to. It feels like I'm underneath a rock. I slightly move my body and just endure the pain. My hair is quite messy, and my in-betweens are getting numb. I don't want to remember how much I suffered from that pain. I know there's nothing I can do about it, but to accept that it's all been done and just leave it like that.
I got up and sat on the bed as the blanket started to loosen on my back.
"Don't just sit there," he said, as he's already at my back.
"Clean yourself; you're disgusting," a sharp word straight to my heart.
Maybe because of my naked skin he saw on my back or last night when he saw the whole me and took everything that was supposed to be mine. As if he didn't take pleasure while I was suffering.
This body is no longer mine now. He took the precious thing from me that should be given to the one I will love, but that is never going to happen anymore.
He went out of the room and slammed the door. Tear drops are falling on my cheeks. It feels like I'm burning inside me. I stood up and slowly walked to the washroom. When I got in, I saw me again in the mirror. A reflection of me, but that is not me. The me was supposed to have a happy smile and cheerful eyes, not like this. This isn't me.
I washed myself to at least get rid of the marks he left on my body. Even though I cleaned them. It will stay forever as a pain in my heart.
I went out and wore one of his shirts that I grabbed from the closet. I took all the courage that was left in me. Every step that I take is showing how much I'm scared, but that doesn't mean I can't go on.
"Where do you think you're going, Mrs. Monteverde?" an unfamiliar voice coming from a woman. I gasped; I didn't notice that she's already behind me. I turned around to face her. She's wearing a uniform just like a maid, but unlike the other maids, she's more like a high rank. Her postures are everything.
"Sir Monteverde went out for business; he'll be back by seven o'clock in the evening," she said with her chin up. She's older; maybe she's around forty's, and she's no joke at all. "I apologized; I'm Margareth; I'm the only maid here and also taking care of this villa," she said without blinking her eyes. "I'm—I'm Jasmine Kho—I mean Jasmine." Before I could finish my word, she continued it for me. "Jasmine Monteverde, that must you say, you're Mrs. Monteverde now. I hope you don't forget that, ma'am," she reminded me.
Monteverde, that surname doesn't suit me, as if I wanted it.
I suddenly feel strange. My head, I feel dizzy. I haven't eaten anything yet, and my stomach is asking for help.
"Let me tell you, Mrs. Monteverde, are you okay?" I can't hear her clearly. I'm feeling dizzy, and I'm about to fall to the ground.
"Mrs. Monteverde? Mrs. Monteverde, can you hear me?" just like an echo lingering on my head until I lose consciousness.
I didn't open my eyes yet when I'm already on my senses. I heard voices. One is from the maid I met earlier, and the other is from a man. "She needs to rest and eat more," he said. "When she wakes up, please give her water and let her eat to bring back her strength," he continued. A footstep slowly faded, and a door opened and closed back.
"Mrs. Monterverde, I know you're awake." How could she say I'm awake when I didn't even move? Is she a witch or something?
"If you can hear me, please open your eyes now. I know you heard the doctor say," so it's the doctor's voice earlier. I should have woke up and asked for help. I wanted to pretend more, but my stomach doesn't want to.
I opened my eyes and pretended I just woke up. "Ms....what's your name again? I asked. "You can call me Margareth, and you can easily remember my name because no one else here except me and Sir Monteverde." Seriously, she said.
I sat down and looked at her. She continued what she was saying. "Sir Monteverde gave me rules when it comes to you," she said, looking straight at me. "Sir Monteverde told me not to give you a special treatment, like I treat him," without blinking her eyes. Oh really, then why she's calling me Mrs. Monteverde, like what for? As if I wanted this.
"Can you please come with me? I need to show you something." I stood up and followed her. I was amazed when she brought me to the kitchen. It's not just a kitchen but a luxury one. I only saw this in the movie. I didn't know I could see it in front of me now. Everything is already in here: food, drinks, luxurious utensils, and more, and I'm hoping she'll give me food and drink now until my stomach is good.
I don't care anymore if Lorenzo owns everything here and what he'll think of me as long as I'll get my strength back; sure, I'll make a plan to escape from here and from him.
