When Cenisa got back to the apartment, she pulled the door open but it wouldn't budge. She looked through the glass in the door and no one was at the desk.
"What the fuck?" she tugged on the handle with the scroll under her arm. Her head started to go off in thought, were there camera in that bookstore?
Clearly this was an act of karma. She didn't actually know how that shit worked but this might as well be an example.
All she had to do was kick the glass but she didn't have a good set of heels. Today she wore white tennis shoes and the thought came to beat the glass with a shoe but again, they were tennis shoes.
In front of the apartments were tall shrubs and a broken statue of a dog. The head of the statue was missing and shattered along side it. She put the scroll under her other arm and picked up the statue which had quite a bit of weight.
The scroll slide from out under her arm. She backed up, stepping on the scroll and held the statue above her head. Cenis hurled the statue at the glass door and the statue broke while bouncing off the door. "Are you fucking with me right now!"
She ran and kicked the door. "Charlie! Charlie!" her mouth hung open. She started blinking rapid. Christian walked in front of the desk and looked at the door.
She stood straight, he looked at her looking at him and grabbed a pen from the desk and left.
Cenisa clutched her nail so tight in her palm, she left dents. She breathed deeply, "Fine."
All of her shit was in the apartment. Luckily, she used to work at Subway down the street. She knew a girl that would let her use the phone.
She picked up the scroll and turned in the opposite direction of the bookstore. "Damn, I hate white people… ol' stupid ass sewage dick smellin'" she mumbled under her breath. "Ooo, I'm not finna be homeless out here…"

"The hell…?" it was right in her ear. "I'm not finna be homeless."

The scroll unraveled under her and floated before her eyes. The scroll began to bleed, it straighten and the paper was completely black then… a set of deep eyes saw Cenisa.
She gasped as prolonged fingers reached out for her. They grabbed her shoulders and moved out the scroll. "W-Wha--Why the book store…" her lips trembled.

She didn't see anything. The next thing she knew was the man lifting her into the air at rocket speed. He wore this purplish, blue, ancient Chinese gown. He had her by the hand. With no wings on his back, they were flying to the moon.
"LET ME GO!" she shouted and it looked down at her with a wavy smile and dropped her.
If she was light skin, maybe she would be white from fright. She was flying, the town looked like a chessboard. She saw buildings that were as high as her.
Slowly, they came into view and the wind wrapping her back was not a cushion for her fall.
She couldn't tell what the temperance was but it felt wet.

"Ow…" as she moved her body cracked. Cenisa saw greenery all around her. Below her, a small spot of blood.
Who was that man with the white paint on his skin? Her head hurt and it startled her. Grass, she was in the woods. Dirt, in the woods. Blood, but she wasn't dead. Her heartbeat was faint, but again, she wasn't dead.
There was a path before her and she moved forward. Maybe a town, maybe she was having that dream where she was dreaming but at the same time she saw her wall and could still dream. "Goddamn my head hurts…" she kept complaining.
Cenisa looked ahead and saw an apple tree. She hurried to the apple tree, once she was closer she saw that there were pinecones growing from the apple tree. She wasn't hungry but she wanted an apple.
Cenisa used to run track at Sherri Davidson Middle School. She backed up slowly about 30 steps away from the tree. She raced forward and pressed her toes against the truck of the tree, keeping balance, she grabbed the nearest branch. Gripping the branch, she took an from another.
These were strange apples. The pine cone and the apple were linked together, connected at the stem. She let go of the branch and landed with no problem.
She pulled apart the apple and the pinecone but they didn't part. She bit into the apple anyway and the pounding in her head lessen.
Cenisa dropped the apple and she breathed through her nose deeply. She could breathe, was she breathing before? She needed another apple.
She picked up the previous and finished it before going for another. She grabbed a total of five apples and pinecones. She ate all five apples leaving the pinecones alone.
"Hey!"
She looked at an old man with a gardening spade in hand. His clothes were brown and hair in a ponytail. "Get away from the Huíshōu!"
"Huh?"
He pointed the tool at her. "Are you a demon?"
"What--No…" she furrowed. "I just--"
"I'll kill you for touching the village tree. You shouldn't have come out here…" he gritted his teeth. "Excuse me--I was hungry!"
He rushed at her with the gardening tool. As the tool came down over her, she stopped with her hand. "I don't know you!"
"Let go!" shouted the man. "Listen! I don't know--" the man jerked the tool out her hands and the weapon ca,e from her left side hitting her. Her face cracked upon impact and the man blood lowered. The crack part of her face was white while rest of her skin was russet brown.
Cenisa could see it herself but her eyes were wild a deep shade of red with back mascara. The man gawked at the point around her cheek. "What are you--I know…"
"S h a k e m y h a n d." she lent her hand out. "Jiangshi!" he ran towards the exit of the forest. In a blink, she found herself in front of him. She grabbed his neck and an energy like no other made her shoulders dance. The man glowed a white light and the light circled Cenisa's hand. He flopped over like a pole with no ground. His body thin and discolored.
Her features shifted to her smooth brown skin, wide jawline and narrow forehead. Her eyes went back to being the rare deep green that they were. Besides that, she had just killed a man.
Cenisa stood there rubbing her fingers together waiting for a miracle to happen.
As in life being normal.
