Part 1: Homophobia and black people.
Homophobia/ noun/: Dislike of or prejudice against gay people.
Homophobia encompasses a range of negative attitudes and feelings toward homosexuality or people who are identified or perceived as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.
The concept of someone becoming less than the person he was before he came out to you, will always go beyond my ability to comprehend. The fact that liking someone of the same gender makes you less worthy of basic human decency is proof of how wrong our society has stirred, probably leading us to self-assured destruction.
The conception that Love could be anything but good is ludicrous. Yet society will always try and fight anything they don't like by any means possible.
One of those means is by the use of greater power and perdition for all gay people. Yet God, the being they use as an excuse to discriminate is referred to in the bible as love, so how could love hate love ( please make it make sense).
Another one of those means that don't make sense is the argument that we would choose to be so. How would I a black man, want an extra thing to be discriminated upon. Isn't racism enough for me, I got to go for homophobia too? ( Double homicide)
I could go on and on for hours but that's not what I want to talk about, because today I came to condemn, condemn homophobic black people.
Black people: black people are a racialized classification of people, usually a political and skin color-based category for specific populations with mid to dark brown complexion.
Now, as a black man myself I have felt the iron hand of racism, tough mild the metal scar it leaves are devastating. So it stands to say that after such a horrible experience I would never oppress anybody but it would seem that some of my dark-skinned brothers and sisters would very much rather play the oppressors.
How?! How could someone that has felt the full power of discrimination wish it upon someone else? How could someone who fights for equality take away the freedom and equity of someone else? How could one who fights police brutality, brutalize someone else? How could someone who post a black square on Instagram condemning the horrendous acts of the police would have a problem with a rainbow flag?!
At first one would think it's hypocrisy, that the fight for equality that we parade ourselves with is all a lie. Because how could one fight for equality if that equality is not for everyone.
But that's not it. It's not a lie, it's not hypocrisy but rather it's supremacy. We, humans, are tainted by a constant want of power and conformity. We want to feel better than others and the only way to get that is by creating a norm so that if one was to skip out of the said norm then they would be less than us.
It's surprising and most scary that homophobic black people would be willing to throw away all the history of equality and black freedom fighters ( Martin Luther King) work for a minute of power against gay people. Are we that thirsty for power? Are we ready to go that low for power?
Am focusing on black people because any homophobic black person is a snake, using the freedom card when pleasing. Whenever they are being discriminated they will shout equality to the roof but when discriminating against others they will forget all about that equality talk.
Dababy, for example, realized a song where at the end a rainbow-colored message addressed his past homophobic statements. The message stated ' My apologies for being me the same way you want the freedom to be you', the statement would translate to let me be homophobic the same way you want the freedom to be gay.
But if a white man was to make that statement, said the rapper would lose his shit. I hope you see where am going with this.
So am here to say that any homophobic black person should not have the right to ask to be treated equally. You get what you give, so why would you be given a luxury that you refuse to grant to others. That would just be entitlement.
To make my point clear any oppressed group(Queers, females, other racially oppressed groups)should not ask for equality if you refuse to grant it. if you are part of any oppressed group but you racist, sexist or homophobic you have no right to demand to be treated equally.
My point is that we should all support each other, considering we are in the same hot stop. We should try to change society and make it safe for all of us, not one group trying to make it safe for themselves while antagonizing others.
Boom!! The 🍵 is served
