It was a few minutes past eight when the doorbell rang. Navaya had just loaded her dishwasher and was scrubbing down her kitchen counter when she heard it. Her kitten's ears twitched at the sound and she hissed as she had quickly understood and related the sound of the doorbell to incoming visitors. Navaya set down the rag in her hold, rinsed her hands clean and made her way towards the front door.
She looked at the security monitor connected to the camera facing the front porch to check who it was but all she could see was a person's dark silhouette. A man judging from his height and build. The rest of him was still shrouded in darkness. Before she knew what she was doing, Navaya was flipping on the switch to illuminate the porch. The lights came on and she could see all of him, every single inch of him he tried to hide in the shadows. The most beautiful set of eyes stared back at her, right through the exteriors and straight into her very soul.
