It was strange how Leo felt more in control of himself when he held someone else's life in his hands.
Everest crumbled to the floor as soon as Leo let go. His wife was now a sobbing mess. Leo didn't want to see the extent of the damage. The sound of fitful coughing and wheezing breaths followed him as he turned and walked away. He didn't bother to check if his men were trailing behind him as he left the house, storming into the night to where the car was parked.
He wasn't surprised that Johnny still held the child, muttering soothing words to her. Leo didn't break his stride as he walked past them.
" Return her to her family, I no longer have any use for them." He called. He yanked open the car door, slamming it shut once he was seated inside. The voices were louder than ever, snarling and hissing. He buried his face in his hands, taking deep calming breaths. It didn't stop. The voices drowned out all thought.
