It was late when the doorknob turned, when Leo made his way into their bedroom. She waited for the other side of the mattress to deepen with his weight. It didn't take long for his warm body to slip under the covers beside her. He wrapped a strong arm around her and pulled her flush to his chest. She didn't stir, but too tense and rigid to feign sleep.
" My love," He said.
Becca still didn't move, didn't turn to look at him but her curiosity was a raging beast. Tonight was the latest he had returned home. A common occurrence lately. She wanted to know where he spent his long hours but at the same time wasn't sure she could stomach his answer.
His sigh was barely audible in the stillness.
She felt him press a kiss to her shoulder where the sleeve of her shirt slipped off, revealing a patch of skin. Despite how hard she fought it, she couldn't stop the tingles that shot up her spine.
