" I don't know what you're talking about." Leigh knew. Angela knew she did.
" Grandma's TV, where is it?"
A few feet of space between them was the only thing that separated them and one of the things that prevented Angela from choking the answers right out of her mother. But that wasn't who Angela was, and those belligerent impulses weren't hers either. Everything just felt wrong, so so wrong.
" The men from the other day came back when you weren't home."
" It has only been four days. We still had time!" Angela snapped, every word from her lips slicing through the air.
" They wouldn't listen! " Leigh snapped back.
" Why didn't you call me? What did you do?"
" I did what anyone else would have done. I took out everything we owned that wasn't being put to use, that damn old TV as well, and sold it all."
