Once Celeste and Thiago arrived, Celine poked her head out and peered through the crack of the front door that she left ajar. She smiled as she spotted Thiago helping his mother out of the cab that parked just in front of the house. As soon as his gaze wandered around and met hers, she scurried out the door heading straight to where he stood. Although they didn't live in the same country anymore, they still strived to maintain their friendship, to keep it firm and running.
With just a few paces distancing them, Celine noticed how empty Thiago looked, not a single hint of anger, irritation, or even joy— his eyes a desolate abyss.
Celine balked instantly.
She and Thiago had been partners in crime right from the first time they met— which was when they were both still toddlers— and she had never seen him this way until now. It was quite unnerving.
