We eventually became a couple, or I'm thinking about it, but we didn't tell anyone on campus. For the next month, we studied together every day. Even though I pretended to be fine with it being 'just friends,' it was killing me. I saw her face every time I looked up from my books. I wanted to grab her face and kiss her every time I saw her. I even miss assignments as a result of distraction.
My teacher warned me not to be distracted because I am a scholar student and should be at the top of my class. But I think of her everywhere I go.
It wasn't easy even outside of the study sessions. I was irritated every time I saw a guy talk to her or laugh with her. So whenever I saw her with a boy, I would step in between them and take her.
It was the middle of July, and our exams were approaching. I had been staring at her lips, trying to figure out how to kiss her while she was calling me a liar.
"Huh? "I agree with you," I said.
"What exactly do you mean?
Your mind is elsewhere. 'What are your current thoughts?' With her fingers, she made a snapping motion.
"Nothing, sorry, I was thinking about how.....insightful you are at explaining things."
"Thank you," she said with a smile, believing me.
As we walked out of the library, I wished I had more time with her.
" Hello, Yuki! ... Shall we hang out, my studies are killing me? "I stated
"Are you okay, a guy who studies too much, want to hang out?" she asks, holding my brow.
"Yeah, I'm just feeling it," I said with a chuckle.
"'Coffee, then?' she asked, pointing to the cafe next to our library.
"No. "I can't sleep then," I explained.
"Do you want some ramen? "I'll make it in at my upstairs house," she said.
"No, leave it, I've got to go," I said, adjusting my bag.
She slammed the wall against me. Isn't this the anime reference where the boy slams the wall against the girl, but in this case the girl is the one who slams the wall? "You're acting strange these days. What do you find yourself thinking about? Grades?''
"I can't study with you any longer," I said flatly.
'What?' she asked, surprised.
"Yuki, I think we don't need to study together anymore."
As I hold her hand, she says, "Yeah, but we like to study together, at least I do...."
What exactly is going on? "Did I make a blunder?"
"It's not your fault," I said, "it's mine."
"Don't pull the "it's not you, it's me" card on me," Yukino yelled.
Everyone was awakened by her loud voice. "Please understand that we are not dating. "Stop acting like we're having a break-up," I said quietly. She pushed me and stormed away.
I didn't say anything to her in class the next day. She approached me twice, once to return my books that I had left in her room and again during the mid-morning break to ask if I wanted to go to Popeyes with her.
When you start liking someone, their mere presence gives you a warm feeling. I fought the sensation before it overtook me.
I refused all of her requests and left her alone. She was dressed in a long-sleeved sweater with a high ponytail. She, too, began wearing glasses and looked lovely. I wish she'd turn around and look me in the eyes. But she didn't; instead, she hung out with her friends.
For the next five days, I avoided her. I arrived late for class and was the first to leave, so there was no time for greetings.
As I looked at her, I realized I was the villain and went to apologize, but when I got close to her, I noticed she was talking to someone else, a boy.
