Xiao Yan drove smoothly into the underground parking lot of Lin Xue company. The gleaming cars parked around hinted at the prestige of the place, but it was the striking red Ferrari F12 that caught his attention. A faint smile tugged at his lips. Lin Hua must be here too, he mused, recognizing the vehicle.
After stepping out of his car, Xiao Yan adjusted his suit and made his way to the reception area. The lack of an employee card was a minor inconvenience—one he could easily navigate. Pulling out his phone, he dialed Lin Xue number, which he had obtained from JiaJia thorough investigation.
The phone rang, but no one picked up. Xiao Yan frowned slightly, but his expression remained calm. Instead of making another attempt, he walked toward the reception desk, drawing attention as he moved. His sharp features, confident stride, and tailored attire didn't go unnoticed.
At the desk, the young receptionist, Yang Zhilan, nearly stumbled over herself in her haste to greet him.
"Sir, how may I assist you?" she asked, her voice tinged with nervous energy.
"I'm here to meet Miss Lin Xue," Xiao Yan replied with a polite smile.
Zhilan blinked, momentarily distracted by his charm."Do you have an appointment with Miss Lin?"
"No, but please let her know to check her phone. It's important"Xiao Yan said.
Nodding quickly, Zhilan picked up the desk phone and dialed Lin Xue office. Meanwhile, her colleague exchanged a knowing glance with her, both stealing glances at Xiao Yan striking appearance.
In her office, Lin Xue and her sister Lin Hua were about to begin their lunch. The table was set with Lin Hua favorite dishes, and the atmosphere between the sisters had finally relaxed. Lin Xue was relieved to see her sister irritation from yesterday fading.
As they were about to dig in, the office phone rang. Lin Xue frowned. While she had silenced her mobile to avoid interruptions, she had forgotten about the landline.
"It's probably work" Lin Xue muttered, ignoring the call.
The phone rang a few more times before the voicemail engaged. Zhilan voice came through the speaker:
"Miss Lin Xue, a young man is at the reception asking you to check your phone."
Lin Hua raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile playing on her lips.
"A young man? Who this mysterious caller, Sister?"
Lin Xue ignored her, but when her mobile vibrated on the table moments later with a call from an unknown number, she hesitated. After a brief pause, she answered the call and, to keep things transparent for her sister, placed it on speaker mode.
"Hello?" she said, her tone brisk.
A voice responded, loud and deliberate:"Your boyfriend from last night."
The words echoed through the room, leaving a stunned silence in their wake.
Lin Xue eyes widened in horror, and her sister Lin Hua froze, her chopsticks mid-air.
"What?"Lin Xue managed to choke out.
On the other end, Xiao Yan tone was casual, almost amused.
"Don't tell me you've already forgotten me. Last night at the restaurant? You're the one who introduced me as your boyfriend, Miss Lin."
Lin Hua gasp broke the silence. She stared at her sister, her face a mix of shock and delight.
"Sister! You have a boyfriend? And you didn't tell me?"
"It's not what you think!" Lin Xue snapped, her face flushing red. She snatched the phone off speaker mode and pressed it to her ear.
"Why are you here?"she hissed into the phone, her voice low.
"Returning the favor," Xiao Yan replied smoothly. "I saved you last night, didn't I? Shouldn't you at least treat me to a cup of tea?"
Lin Xue pinched the bridge of her nose, struggling to suppress her growing frustration.
"Fine. Wait there. I'll come down."
She ended the call and turned back to her sister, who was grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"So… boyfriend?" Lin Hua teased, clearly enjoying the moment.
"It's not like that! "Lin Xue shot back, flustered."He's just someone I met last night. It's complicated."
"Oh, I bet it is,"Lin Hua said with a laugh. "Don't keep him waiting, Sister. He sounds like quite the charmer."
Lin Xue glared at her sister, muttering under her breath as she grabbed her blazer and headed for the door. Her heart raced, a mix of embarrassment and irritation fueling her steps.
