Turning toward one of the piles the old gnome picks up a battered and stained leather journal. Pages are ripped out haphazardly and several are coated in blood, vomit, and other questionable stains. Holding it out to the bosses tyhe gnome motions for them to open it and begin reading the contents.
It's been four months if my calendar is right, we lost Gianna the elf yesterday. That wrinkled hag somehow convinced her to leave the building and low and behold was coated in shadows and death as soon as she stepped over the boundary. Plucked the poor girls heart straight from her chest with a cackle. Still haven't found a way out of this cursed city yet either. The message was bad enough but the fact that this is all a dungeon, friends I've seen and worked with reduced to either corpses or bosses. It's terrifying and I think I may be losing my mind. I saw the velter girl again, hiding down the lane in the butchers shop surrounded by dead things hungry for flesh. I managed to animate some wood and got her some food but the dungeon knows now. When my golem died a new golem rose from its remains and tried to attack me, I ran but now I can't fight back anymore. If anyone finds this just know we still live, we still struggle to survive.
It's me, Ferrick, again writing in this damnable journal! Della is starting to lose her mind and wants us to rescue the velter girl. Says we should gather survivors in my home and fight back. Daft girl doesn't realizing that fighting does no good. I remember the words appearing in front of my face.{You have now entered The Mad Gods City Dungeon! Warning you are not a dungeon boss, mob, or adventurer! You shall be designated as an NPC of the dungeon until leaving the dungeon or perishing! Your present age, health, and power will be frozen at the present stage until leaving the dungeon!} We don't get older but Della was getting a cold when this happened apparently, she's kept it all this time until a new dead thing came around. Puked ooze all over the streets and made her sicker, she can barely stand but wants to help others? Foolish.
How long has it been.....We don't die from hunger and thirst. We don't die from disease or old age. There is no night time in this cursed place, just sunny daylight shining down on a city of the dead and damned. I remember the girl, the one with the big eyes, haven't seen her in....months? Years? I can't remember. I found this book under a pile of stuff and the writing is mine but.....pages are missing. There was an elf and a crone....I think they were like my sweet Della, maids or something. Poor girl is sick, so sick, but I can't fix her I've tried. Went outside and found red bottles, didn't work, not the greens or blues or purples either. Heard laughing coming from a building, when I checked I saw the big eyed girl, she was crying and laughing and shaking and dancing. She was covered in flesh and blood and carrying butchers knives. Then the growls began and I ran away to my poor Della.
I saw it! I saw it! I saw it! The thing! I remember it from the before! It was in a cage, a single eye the size of my hand! Tentacles underneath it followed by a skinny little scaly body with wings! It was tiny but it was sick too! Was being carried by a woman in white that looked familiar! I just know it, it has to know the way out! I get it and we can get Della to safety! We can do this, you can do this Ferrick! Get ahold of yourself and come to grips you can do this!
I've lost me mind I think. Della fell asleep months ago but is still alive. I killed a rat thing and I think the dungeons mocking me. It dropped a calendar just like the one in the corner. But it's new, and the date is wrong. The one in the house says year 1722 this one says year 2698.....This can't be right, I've lost me mind. Saw a pretty elf woman in an outfit like Della's earlier. Giant hole in her chest as she followed behind a tall woman with sagging skin and spots. Was visited by a monster too, they can't come in the building but this one could. Had giant eyes and it was crying, pretty rocks came out. Called me Ferrick, sounds familiar but not at the same time. Said she found friends and bringing them to help. We'll see....we'll see...
Monster came back with two friends. Ones fat and ones mean, they both know me though. Says my name is Ferrick Glimmertoe and that I'm a machinist for the king. I'm famous and everyone knows me, my machines are amazing. Wish I knew me because that could help so much. Jax is the fat one and he helps Della. Still isn't awake but thats ok she shouldn't wake up. To scary now, to many monsters, to many dead things. Koos is the mean one, says he was a guard. Hid in the sewers all this time but now theres something in there. Made of acid and hate he says, lost a foot but healed it. Says I know healing magic but I don't know it no, no, no, yes? Tried to make my hands glow and they did! Della breathed better but not enough....Have to remember yes, I am Ferrick Glimmertoe a machinist for the king. I can heal. I'm not crazy.
The elf and the spotted lady returned. They knew I was here. Had more women in outfits. Said Della was theirs and had to give her to them. No no no. Koos used a long sticker and killed the elf, she looked so happy when she died. Lost the sticker though so used a bopper instead. Left but so did Koos. Saw him again later but he was a dead thing, had a hole in his belly and was walking with the other shiny dead things. just me , Jax and Della. And the monster. It comes back sometimes. Tells us we have friends. We have others like us. Jax left to meet them. He'll be a dead thing soon too.
Heard loud sounds today! Della is sick sick, something inside her, something bad, she wrinkles and sleeps and breathes but not much. I go outside to find more stuff, yes stuff. pointy bits and stuffs to eats. Keep reading this book, I know my name is Ferrick Glimmertoe and I am a machinist to the king. I can heal. My toes don't glimmer. The monster hasn't come back so I need to get stuff. Della is safe inside. I can sneak, so will avoid dead things. new calendar for the pile. Date says 4581 year, can't be right, to much time yes. Be good Della I'll be back.
