Chapter 90 - Homes and Horror

"So you say flying pack won't fly cus there's no bones or muscles? Hrmm...but Wompa want to fly like the feathery things!" Exclaims Wompa as Grabba just shakes his head with a smile at the builders antics. Looking through the small book he see's several fanciful drawings of birds and a strange winged castyr until he comes upon a picture of a towering door covered in metal, trophies, skulls, and confections.

"Aye lad, but more importantly, what be this here design. Why there be cakes and skulls and hammers all over it?" Grabba asks as Wompa starts to shuffle excitedly as he looks at the dwarf with stars in his eyes.

"That's Wompa's bestest creation!! Wompa's gonna make door for big bosses house super cool looking so everyone knows big boss is here! It gonna have cake and cookies and skulls and jewels and all this other stuff that keeps popping in my head!" Jabbers Wompa excitedly as he looks at Grabba in hope, the small sporeling excited for his opinion.

"Aye that sounds magical lad but there be a wee problem. The boss, he be a dungeon which means he be needing people and monsters to challenge him. If he has such a big door blocking his entrance they can't go inside. Yer right that he's needin' a better entrance but it needs ta be classy. Represent a professional dungeon with good loot and challenging levels that not be killing all who enter." Grabba explains as Wompa's look of excitement turns to a frown as his lip trembles and his eyes leak an orange liquid.

"But....but...the bestest creation...Wompa want to build....." The sporeling mutters sadly as a small sob escapes his mouth and he sits on the ground with his arms wrapped around his knee's.

"Don't worry child, the master just gave me some orders and it will let you build even better things. He said that your going to go outside the village and explore the ruins nearby and see if you can find any buildings to get blueprints from. He wants the might Wompa to build him the greatest village in the lands!" Narghal whispers loudly to Wompa as the sporeling stops crying and stares at the scritcher in awe as Grabba shakes his head in amusement.

"Aye those ruins still have a few buildings still standing. If ya can lad try and snag old Grabba a smithy so I can be making actual weapons for our people. If not get anything new, it'll be good for you and you can always make them better later." The dwarf says as the sporeling nods, still in awe at the thought of buildings better than what he's built.

Watching Wompa nervously shuffle outside of the villages boundaries I lose sight of the young boss and the party of older adventurers willing to escort him to the ruins nearby that we originally scavenged loot from. Nodding my head in acceptance I check back on the prompt I just received and let out a sad sigh.

{Prison has been completed! Current Amount of Cells: 6 Current Occupied Cells: 1 List of Prisoners is as follows: Anissa Level 58 Nightstalker Status: Well Cared For, Undergoing Sentencing. Warning Prison does not currently have a Warden Assigned. Prison cannot be upgraded without a Boss Class Warden Assigned to manage prisoners and future guards.}

'Damn looks like we're gonna need somebody to be in charge of the prison eventually. Good news is Anissa is officially in a cell and being cared for for the duration of her sentence. Don't know how long that will be though.' I mutter as Tilly nods her head sadly before turning to watch the village screen again.

Watching in fascination I see several scritchers fasten wagons to the backs of castyr as the small group move towards the piles of rubble that used to be camp buildings. As that group begins carting the rubble into the entranceway a group of grave crawlers spit mucous between the remaining logs making up a barricade, the disgusting phlegm turning hard as concrete after several minutes and helping to keep the remaining defenses standing. I can even see several small mimic's in the shapes of small pots using their gemlike insectile limbs to scutter underneath large piles of rubble to bring back small jewels and items of value.

"Kyle it looks like we have a visitor." Tilly says in a warning voice as a creature creeps into the boundary of the village, its body emaciated as it sniffs at the air ferally. Inspecting the creature I let out a shudder at the explanation.

{Species- Wendigo Description- Wendigo are eternally starving creatures of hate and hunger. Rumored to only be created when a sentient being becomes so hungry they resort to cannibalism, these creatures can spread this disease through bites and slowly morph victims into packmates. Wendigo can only sate their hunger on living flesh meaning hunting undead or scavenging is impossible for these predators. Their emaciated bodies should not be looked down upon though as they have magically enhanced strength and they are so fast that elders are known to have flames instead of feet, the flesh burnt and replaced by a magical fire. The size of the antlers growing from a wendigo's head can be used to tell its age.}

'We hade myths of these things where I come from. They were spirits that forced people to eat their families or monsters that hunted men through the forests. Usually they showed up in myths about frozen lands or snowy countries. It's really disturbing to see them be real though.' I Say as I count fourteen spikes coming from the creatures antlered skull. It's head is covered by a deer's skull that is fused to the lower jaw, the mouth filled with razor sharp fangs meant for tearing and rending flesh. It's body is tall and gangly, its skin a pale white pallor as its thin fingers end in broken talons, each shattered or dulled through extreme abuse. The bones of its body are easily seen through the skin stretched tightly overtop them, dried blood covering its jaw throat and chest as its feet slowly spark from the ghostly blue flames blackening the heel.

With a heart stopping roar the beast charges into the village towards a group of scritchers attempting to flip a broken log off of some sacks, the roar causing each to turn in fright before a ball of fire flashes past them and smashes into the wendigo's chest. The creature lets out a grunt as its thrown backwards but still manages to keep itself on its feet before a boulder is thrown into its legs, its head smashing into the ground as its legs go up in the air.

"Stupid beast, thinking to intrude upon the masters domain and prey upon his servants. He shall delight in obtaining your soul and remaking you as a creature under his banner." Snarks Narghal as he draws another rune in the air with his finger, the rune glowing brightly before a spear of ice shoots forward and pierces the wendigo's belly as it attempts to get back to its feet.

"Aye Narghal the lord will be a might bit pleased at this one. Hunger beasts are a powerful force on their own, and he be able to control them." Says Grabba as he tosses a demonic hammer at the beasts body, the creature turning towards the new noise quickly before letting out a pained gurgle as the hammer slams into its throat and crushing it.

Gasping for breath and clawing at its collapsed throat the wendigo mewls pitifully as its body begins to slowly succumb to its injuries and it dies after several minutes of flailing ineffectively.
