Like a puppy, he would not stop clinging to her. He stumbled in his drunken state, trying to catch onto the woman who had unwrapped herself quite impetuously for his liking. He was not someone to give up without a fight, and his pride still triumphed above anything else.
"Get off me," Lucianna whispered angrily, trying to stop the man who had cornered her to the bed and held her wrists hostage above her head to come any closer. Maybe he did not hear her or did not care enough to bother, but he resorted to a sheepish grin to avoid the issue of her hostility, then descended until they were eye to eye.
The silence in the room grew more audible, and each sound came out laboriously, like someone breathing against the piping winter.
