"mmphh…", memories start to rush in. We see a memory of Iris, which was when she was 11. Little Iris covered in bruises, squatting in the corner of the bathroom. A crying for help can be heard from the living room. Little Iris looked out the door to see her mom got beaten by her dad. While she looked at them, suddenly her dad turned his head towards her. Feeling mad and irritated, he walked toward her, leaving her mom in a critical state. Iris seemed to be scared, but there's no escaping from the situation. Her dad then took the shower head by force and continue to face her. Little Iris saw her dad's action and know that she will be beaten again. Stuttering with tears falling down, she said, "no… no… dad, please…no-".
"No!!!", Iris woke up with sweats covering her body. Her breathing is fast, her eyes is looking just about everywhere. She found herself on a bed, in a room she doesn't recognizes. Besides the bed is a window that are open. She looked to her right and sees a big field surrounded by trees and a lake. There are multiple houses and seems like she is in some sort of countryside village. "Oh my… Mother! She's awake!", a little child voice appeared. Iris then sees a woman coming towards her with a child slowly following behind. With confusion settling in, Iris said, "Umm… where… where am I?". The woman walks towards her and places her palm onto Iris's forehead to measure the temperature. "Thank god, your fever is now gone. My name is Hestia. I was searching for some berries when I found you in the lake.". "How… How long was I unconscious for?". "Well… I don't exactly know how long, but I found you 2 days ago.", Hestia makes her way to the nearest cabinet and pour a glass of water for Iris. "Here, drink this. You haven't eaten or drink for so long. Do tell your name.". After Iris gulp down the water, she said, "My name is Iris. I'm sorry, but where exactly am I? And why... Why do you look like an elf? Are you cosplaying?", she points out to Hestia's ears. "Cosplaying? Anyways, like you just said… I am indeed an elf, and you are currently in the Elf's Village.". Confused, Iris asked, "You're joking right…? There's no way elf is real. I... How do I get here…?".
"I think I should be the one who ask you that. No humans can get in to our village. We put special barrier to avoid any creatures. But, how do you, a human who have no mana, get into here?". "Mana? What's that?". Hestia tilted her head, with confuse in her voice, "You don't know what mana is? Every creature knows and have mana. Where are you from? To not know such basic knowledge.". With hesitation, Iris told Hestia from the moment she was on top of a building until when she woke up. "you're telling me, you are from another world called earth? There's no place called earth here." Silence filled the room. Hestia then gets up, "Well, I don't care where you are from but please continue to rest". "Wait! You letting me stay? I thought you don't want humans in your village?". "Usually, you will need to be kill, but you don't seem like a threat to us. And besides, I don't want to put you outside where there are tons of other evil creatures that surely would devour you.".
Shivers run down her spine, "What…?". Hestia then continue to walk out of the room while said, "Oh and of course you're not staying here for free. You will help me with my garden and sell them after you get better.". Surprised, Iris said loudly, "Of… Of course! I am in debt to you after all! And, and thank you!". Hestia stop midway and smile. She then nods and walks out. While looking out of the window, Iris notices a small child spying on her at the door. She smiles at the child and asked him to come it. The child hesitates, but with courage, he then enters the room. "What's your name little one?", Iris asked while smiling. "I'm… I'm Oberon. And… And I'm not little! I am three now!", he speaks loudly. Iris giggles, she finds Oberon to be an adorable child. Iris loves children, although, she is not ready to have one yet. But she has always wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. "Okay, okay. You're right. You're a big boy! By the way, where is your dad?", with curiosity Iris asked. It took him about 10 seconds to answer, "I don't know… Mom told me that dad traveled and will be back soon. But I don't know when is soon…", He looks down. Iris then tries to shift the moods, "We- Well, don't worry! I'm sure he is somewhere safe and always thinking about you and your mom!".
His mood went up, then he asked, "are you actually a human? This is my first-time meeting one! I heard that human like to hunt us down and treat us like a trophy… Is that true…? Will you hurt my mom and I?", Oberon fiddling his little fingers.
Surprised with Oberon's words, Iris continue to smile and said, "Oberon, I would never hurt any kind. Not elves, humans or even any creatures. But then, of course, there are some humans who are bad. So, I ask you, keep the people you trust close to you and never trust anyone who looks like they will hurt you. Do you understand Oberon?". Oberon nods and said, "Yes, I understand.".
From another room, Hestia who heard every of their conversations, smiled and said, "Oberon, help me setting the table. And Iris, come and eat with us.".
