I felt the warmth of the morning sun on my skin, I opened my eyes to the sight of Emma doing her skincare routine. I stared at her flawless skin, her cherry blonde hair, her mesmerising light blue eyes.
"Oh, you're awake Kaze! Good morning~" she said with a smile
"Um yeah, good morning," I said getting out of my futon
"You should hurry and get ready, we might be kinda late to school," she said while doing up her hair
"Oh crap, I'll move real quick then," I said as I fast walked to the bathroom
"don't move too quick you might stub your toe"
I stared into my soulless eyes while I brushed my teeth, wondering if the dude who invented the noble prize got a noble prize himself, or why a microphone is bigger than our actual phones. A shower thought and a half later, Emma and I were off to school. We of course went to the convenience store I worked at and got ourselves breakfast. Once we arrived at school I walked Emma to her locker and attempted to escape but she managed to grab me by the ear and pulled me to my locker. After sitting through an economics test, some talk about a global pandemic, and some stupid headache later, I was sitting with Emma and Brayden at our normal spot for breaks. We were enjoying a conversation on a video a YouTuber we all regularly watched uploaded, 'Yu-Gi-Oh vs Pokémon". Just as we finished that conversation I got a phone call.
"Kaze who's calling you?" Emma asked
"I got no idea" I responded
"You should probably pick it up Kaze" Brayden added
"Put it on speaker though, I'm curious," Emma said
"Yeah yeah," I said as I picked up the call
I put the call on speaker and I placed it on the middle of the table we were sitting on.
"Hello?" I said to the phone
"Is this the Ruler?" said the person on the other end of the call
"Ruler?! Who is this!" I was starting to freak out
"Ah so it is you Kaze, seems like your friend here wasn't lying"
"This voice, Dex is that you!?"
"Bingo, thank the lord you remembered me Kaze"
"Wait, rewind, you said my friend? Whatchu mean by that?
"Oh some kid named Malachi who came to us looking to join"
"Malachi!! Dex where is he!?"
"Calm down Ruler, he's right here"
"Is he okay!?" Brayden, Emma, and myself looked at each other in complete worry
"If you define blindfolded and tied to a chair as 'okay' then yeah sure"
"Dex I swear to all things good in this world I will kill you if you even think about touching him, you hear me?"
"Oh? So he's important to you?"
"Dex, I swear"
"Want to have him back?"
"What you think Dex?"
"Well, since he's kinda our hostage as of this moment, how about we have a street race?"
"What are the conditions?"
"We'll race either until one of us can't see the others tail lights or until one's car breaks down, if you win you get Malachi but if you lose… We kill him"
"Dex you even touch him and I'll make sure you don't even feel safe in your own home"
"Oo a feisty one I see, we race tonight meet me at the car park where we first met"
He hung up the phone before I could respond. I was overwhelmed in anger, all I could see was red, I saw Emma's and Brayden's mouths move as if they were trying to tell me something but I couldn't hear anything. I stood up and began to walk to my car. I was getting my childhood friend back.
