Chapter 2 - Chapter Two

In my previous life, my parents died at an accident making me an orphan at the age of three. Back then, I don't have a full grasp of understanding on what's happening around me. I'm just letting everything unfold in front of me which lead my life to be ridiculously far from being a normal life.

My life as a professional assassin started after getting sold in the black market at the age of four. My relatives doesn't want to take care of me so they sell me to a orphanage that has a connection to the black market. I'm only three years old that time and my parents just died so I don't really understand what's happening. I wasn't given a time to cry and mourn for what I have lost because I need to face the cruel world alone.

If only I knew how I will end up in the end.

I would have runaway so I can avoid having to go through hell for my entire life and getting killed after using me as a weapon to end the lives of thousands of people.

I only stayed for a year in the orphanage before getting sold. They originally planned on selling my body parts after I died from their daily beatings. However, they've changed their minds after observing that I can be sold as a new pet for a secret organization that foster kids to kill for them and act as their weapon. They were more like a organization that trains future mercenaries in this world but not exactly.

For they are far from cruel.

Sigh.

"Isabella, what's taking you so long?" I uttered as I grew tired on spinning the knife in my hand.

If they have really planned it all carefully just like what I thought, she should be making her way by now.

Why?

That's because at this time, the knights that's guarding the hallway would be meeting the other knights at the main hall to exchange shifts. This would be the perfect time for her to enter my room and locked the window to ensure that their objective to assassinate me without anyone knowing it be accomplished.

As my lady-in-waiting, she won't be able to lock it if she waits for the sun to rise because Elyse, my Nanny, would be there. Also, Elyse always comes here earlier than her to open the curtains. Elyse would likely to notice if the window is unlocked for she have a keen eyes as well as a overly protective nanny to me. She treats me as her child after all.

If that happens, they have just failed their mission objective. However, they still likely accomplished their mission if I died.

Hoho. Thank goodness I didn't die. But it's still too early to be calm about this! I'm going to shatter their plan right before their eyes!

Finally! Let's get our act together.

It's only three in the morning yet there are already some that's getting into their work. Most of it were knights that's preparing to start with their duty to let the others rest and train for the day. The only person who should be still sleeping instead of wandering in the hallway of the young lady's room was the maid named Isabella.

The young maid immediately stop walking to turn left and hide to the corner of the hallway as she saw a person standing in front of where she's planning to go to.

"Gosh. What is he doing here?" Isabella whispered to herself as she recognized Sir Lucas, the young lady's personal butler, standing guard a few steps away in front of the room of his lady.

'He should still be asleep but what's this?' Isabella's mind was trying to figure out the reason behind the scene unfolding in her eyes.

The looked on Isabella's face was the mixed of confusion, frustration as well as nervousness.

'I need to locked the window no matter what. Ugh. I should have told him to do that if things would be like this!'

Isabella covered her mouth when she heard footsteps approaching Sir Lucas in the opposite direction as where she is standing.

"Sir Lucas, are you starting your duty this early?" It was a voice of a man. It was one of the knights that's getting ready to exchange shifts.

Sir Lucas smiled before answering in a low voice."I'm only passing by but I saw no one's here so I stayed."

Isabella's eyes almost lost its light. 'There's no way I can enter with him standing on guard there!'

"You're really doing your best protecting the young lady. The other knights will be here soon, you should rest for now."

"Yeah, I guess I'll get going then."

The two gentlemen walk on their paths and continue their small chat on their way. Meanwhile, Isabella who have thought light is nowhere to be found in darkness started walking through the small light that serves as her hope.

She silently open the door of the young lady's room and walked tip-toed. It wasn't because she's afraid of waking up the little girl but because she was afraid someone might come when they hear her.

"There's no way that this pipsqueak would wake up." Isabella whispered though she wasn't aware of the fact that she just said it out loud.

Click.

The sound of the window radiates the dead silent room as she successfully locked the window she intentionally left unlocked. Look of relief was evident in her face. She turned her gaze to the bed where the young lady was lying.

'I'll just check and leave'

She walked towards the lady's bed and stop at its bedside. Isabella looks closely and confirmed that the lady wasn't breathing. She leans her ears just to make sure one last time.

However.

Doing so was a big mistake in her part.

Because.

.

.

.

.

.

That's exactly what the young lady wants her to do.

Isabella flinched as she felt a cold metal touching her neck. Her body suddenly become cold making her unable to move as she felt a warm breathe in her ears.

"Hey, move a little. It's revolting looking at you this close."

Isabella slowly moves but stop halfway as the knife on her neck lightly pierced her. Her body is trembling in fear and she can't even make a sound as if her tongue was cut.

'What's happening to me?'

'Why am I this scared as if I'm going to die?'

'What's with this suffocating atmosphere?'

'No, more importantly, what's with the young lady?'

The young maid can't find the answers to her questions as her body continued to tremble in fear.

"Look at me."

'I can't move. My body doesn't want to move.'

"Hmm, it looks like you also know how to get scared. It's my first time seeing you like this, you see."

The young lady looked down on the trembling maid who was now on her knees. It was obvious why the maid was acting like this.

The young lady was known to have a warm and bright aura around her, fo her voice that makes everyone feel at ease with its cuteness as well as sweetness. In the eyes of Isabella, the young lady was completely a different person now. Her aura doesn't have a gist of warmth nor bright at all.

In fact, it's the opposite of those.

Darkness seems to lurk around the young lady. The feeling of it brings coldness to your body and it's suffocating making it difficult to breathe. Her voice was still the same yet it wasn't at all.

It's uncomfortable to look at.

She looks like an angel yet she gives off the aura of a demon.

"Let's see things unfold from here on." A smirk flashed from the young lady's face.
