Synopsis

Prologue

Dream. It all started in just a dream. A dream that awakens me about the true definition of love and sacrifice. A love that brought me light from my dull life and an act of sacrifice that even myself could never imagine of doing so.

I keep looking back on those days where I felt like I was on a cloud nine. Those ordinary days that became extra-special, those lifeless nights that became full of excitements, and those clueless dreams that became significant and meaningful ones, all of these gave meaning to my life but everything has its ending.

I am alone in the library sitting at my favorite spot where I can see the beautiful sunset through the glass window. It is past an hour that I stayed here, reading various books all at a time, "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" by Ransom Riggs, "Crazy Rich Asians" by Kevin Kwan, "Sense and Sensibility" by Jane Austen, and other books. I used to do this, randomly picking books from the shelves, opening the pages of every book, reading them alternately. Many colleagues have started to notice the strange action of mine, pushing myself too much to concentrate and distract myself. I have to, I don't have other choice.

After reading the last page of Ransom Riggs' novel, I decided to leave the library without finishing the other books since it's already 5:39 in the afternoon and I have to walk home with my little sister playing at the school playground.

I walk through the fire exit stairs since this way is more convenient than the main stairs. As I climb down the stairs, I can see the sky through the large glass windows. It's getting darker and I know that this will be the start of another painful night. How I wish that there will be no nighttime at all, just to forget him.

I found my sister, Drianne, playing hide and seek with her classmates. She was about to be discovered by the seeker when I shouted.

"Dri! It's time to go home!"

Her face started to be a little bit sad as I approach her and picking up her bag and lunchbox. I smiled at her sweetly.

"Let's go. We still have to walk home and it's already getting late. Mom might scold us, you know." I said while giving her her bags.

We bid goodbyes to her classmates and start going out of the campus.

I held her hand tightly while walking since Drianne is just an eight-year old girl who loves to talk about Dr. Murphy from the" Good Doctor" series.

"Sissy, look, I got five stars from Miss Stella! I recited in her class three times, I got a perfect score on her quiz, and I cleaned our blackboard!" She said excitedly.

"Oh, that's nice, you really did well in your class, huh." I remarked while looking up in the sky.

"You know what I think about these stars? It's like a five-letter word, like dream! D-R-E-A-M. And these stars are guiding stars which give hope. Do you think that my dreams can be fulfilled?" She asked as she look at me.

I was surprised. I don't know how to respond. The only thing I can do is nod. I shifted my gaze at the sky. How I wish that my biggest dream can be fulfilled. I am still dreaming about you. But I cannot see stars, even a single shine of it.
