That night, Katherine and Eloise were at the karaoke. Katherine was singing and partying while Eloise just sat there as if she was lost in thought. She was not in the mood to party especially after embarrassing herself in front of the barley tea thief. Katherine noticed how Eloise was not interested so she approached her and said "Yah~ Are you really going to sit here and sulk?" while pinching her cheeks. Eloise let out a sigh before saying "Katherine , I embarrassed myself today…"Katherine replied "You? The goddess of Harvard University?" Eloise covered her face as she murmured "If he spreads the news, I will be a shame…". Seeing how devastated Eloise was, Katherine asked "How bad was it? Do you have to drop out?" so as to know the severity. Eloise looked up and replied "Well, I don't have to drop out but I probably have to deal with this embarrassment until graduation." She abruptly stands up and said "I want to go out for some fresh air."
Outside, Eloise was leaning against the wall as she kept letting out sighs. Then, she was surrounded by a group of drunkards. Drunkard 1 approached her and said "Hey little missy, are you alone?" She knew these men were up to no good just by looking at their appearance. She tried to dodge them but drunkard 2 blocked her way. He then said "Want to spend some time with us? I can buy you a lot of drinks." They were closing up on her so she decided to speak up for herself by saying "Please get out of my way while I am being nice." However, these men did not take her seriously. The third drunkard who seemed to be the leader of the gang grabbed her hand as he said "You sure are feisty, missy. A beautiful face and a beautiful body…but the mouth needs some fixing." He lets out a smirk before saying "Don't worry, let me help you with that."
As drunkard 3 tries to force himself upon Eloise who was struggling, the drunkard was grabbed by his collar and thrown away. His two other friends were shocked to see him literally fly away. Eloise then saw the person who saved her - the barley tea thief. Drunkard 1 who was pissed off said " Yah! Who are you?" The barley thief replied with "You don't need to know that." Drunkard 2 tried to sound threatening by raising his voice as he said "You should mind your own business, kid!" The barley thief smirked as he said "I was just picking up some trash." Drunkard 1 got riled up because he knew he was the 'trash' this so called hero mentioned. "Trash? You little brat must think you are all that!" shouted drunkard 1 as he threw his fist. The barley thief stopped his punch very easily. He then said "Leave and I will pretend nothing happened. Well, I don't mind if you want to spend the night in the police station." The three drunkards ran off after he was once again thrown to the ground.
"Are you alright?" he asked as he approached Eloise who was still in shock. She seemed rather pale and twitched when the barley thief touched her shoulder. It was clear Eloise was still in shock after what had happened. He lightly patted her on the head as he said "It's okay. You are safe now." His gentle voice struck a chord in her heart and she unknowingly opened up her heart towards his kindness. It never crossed her mind that the barley thief had a kind side. As she started to calm down, her breathing was more controlled. He helped her to stand back up. "Here," he said when he returned her student ID which she dropped earlier today in campus. "Why do you have this?" she asked. "You dropped it when you sneaked into the music department," he replied. She was reminded of her embarrassing encounter with him yet again. "You can go home by yourself?" he asked and she replied with a nod. They parted ways and Eloise returned to the karaoke room but she seemed to be in a daze. When Katherine saw her, she asked "Eloise , are you okay?" as she helped her to sit down. Eloise replied "I'm fine…"Katherine then asked "Did something happen? Whose jacket is this?" Eloise finally returned to reality and recalled the moment the barley thief offered his jacket. Her face started to blush as she had the flashback. "Eloise Washington~" Katherine kept calling since Eloise was silent.
Back at home, as she laid on her bed, Eloise was holding onto her student ID which was returned from the barley thief. She recalled the moments when she was saved by him outside the karaoke shop. She then came to a realization that she had not thanked him yet. "I should thank him at least…" she murmured. In campus, after lectures ended, Eloise decided to drop by the music faculty building in hopes to bump into the barley thief. Her presence garnered a lot of attention since she was already popular after being shared on the university homepage earning her the title of 'The Goddess of Harvard University'. It was a gamble since she couldn't ask for him as she did not know his name. Other students started to gossip about her appearance at the music faculty building since she is from the faculty of arts. "I hope he comes out soon," murmured Eloise as she tried to hide her awkwardness.
At that moment, the barley thief stepped out of the building with his friend, Casey who also majors in music. "Is that the goddess?" asked Casey when he spotted Eloise standing alone by the stairs. The barley thief approached her and asked "Why are you here?" Eloise was pleased to finally see him. She replied "Um, I just wanted to thank you for helping me yesterday." He noticed how Eloise was avoiding to look at his face so he pulled her by the wrist. This action garnered a lot of attention from the crowd. "Um, where are we going?" she asked as she was being lead. "Somewhere we can talk," he replied. They finally arrived behind a building where there was nobody around. "You…why did you come to my faculty?" he asked, sounded quite stern. "I just wanted to thank you for helping me last night. I didn't get to thank you because I was too shocked. Plus, I came to return your jacket too," replied Eloise who handed him a bag.
"Don't come to my faculty anymore. It's not good for others to see you lingering around the faculty," he said as he took the bag. "I don't want to to go either but I had no choice. I don't even know your name," she explained her stand. After looking at her, he patted her on the head softly as he said "Nikolai… Nikolai Gunther is my name." Upon hearing his name, Eloise looked up and they made eye contact. At that moment, she felt an electrifying sensation and was totally caught in his gaze. It was as if time had stopped when they locked eyes. Eloise could feel her heart racing and her body heating up. "Nikolai…" she murmured as she looked him in the eye. Nikolai felt his heart beat as if he felt love. He suddenly leaned in towards her as if he was being dragged into her eyes. "Um, is something wrong?" she asked as she moved backwards when he leaned in. He then came back to his senses and pushed himself away. "So-sorry. I was…um…sorry about that," he apologized after stuttering for a while. "It's okay," she replied, slightly blushing. "Um, well then. Thanks for returning the jacket," said Nikolai as he walked away leaving Eloise behind.
"What is this feeling?" murmured Eloise as her legs gave in and she fell on the ground. Her heart was racing and her body was feeling hot. It was a sensation that she had never felt before. Well, anyone can tell that Eloise Washington, the goddess is a newbie when it comes to romance. Despite her beauty, she never had a relationship before. She never had any interest in having a romantic relationship no matter how many boys confessed and how many gifts she received during valentine because she swore to never love in this lifetime.
