Chereads / Tales Of Blood / Chapter 26 - Round 2

Chapter 26 - Round 2

The instant that purple liquid enveloped the young man, everyone present in the area, including the trainers, Ruby and even the other evolved ones training alongside, felt a menacing presence. Some of them took steps back trying to get rid of this oppressive aura.

Lucas noticed everyone's reaction, he saw that most had either retreated or were paralyzed by his technique. The only ones who didn't react like that were the two trainers, Ingrid and another mutant he hadn't seen before.

The first thing Ruby felt upon seeing that was fear, but when a thread of regret began to creep into her heart, she immediately cut it off and sparked her mutation to activate her most powerful ability.

The entire arena suddenly lost its light, an area of about ten square meters was completely black, no light could penetrate it. Even the trainers, who were inside the affected area, could not see anything.

"Maybe he dodged before because he could see my tiny distortions in the air. I want to see if he can see me now!" The technique took a lot of effort to work, but she could still think of her victory.

Lucas, enveloped in darkness, was startled by not being able to see anything. He'd heard her talk about this ability, but he'd forgotten about it. Unfortunately, he remembered only now, however, the ability did nothing but impede his vision. His [Blood Intuition] was still active and he could feel its presence just the same.

'I said I would be serious now, but I'm not going all out. I'm not stupid enough to kill her, my mutation is fatal. I think I'll try something out, it shouldn't hurt too much, it'll just hurt." He didn't want to hurt Ruby, but since he had promised not to underestimate her, he had to convince her of that.

Nobody could see what was happening inside the darkness, so they didn't see that a small purple drop appeared on the boy's palm. The drop trembled uncontrollably on the surface, it felt like something wanted to come out of it. Suddenly, the drop exploded and turned into smoke, composing countless even smaller droplets, they were so small that they looked like smoke if you didn't look closely.

He had tried to do the same with more blood, but the most he could control was a drop. This skill requires immense concentration to activate and the small drop that has now transformed was less than a quarter of the maximum amount he could control, however it was enough for his goal.

"I think the leg is the best option." Deciding his target, he launched the cloud as fast as he could toward where he thought Ruby's legs were. All of this happened in less than 3 seconds after the 'arena' lost its light. Everyone present was still trying to figure out what was going on.

Ruby, the holder of light control, struggled to keep her concentration on the fight, luckily the adrenaline helped the process. She was the only one who could see clearly within the black area, her mutation made her eyes able to distinguish all colors within her area of influence.

She saw the drop appearing on Lucas' palm and then it turned into a small cloud of approximately 1 cubic cm. Seeing that her opponent was about to attack, she ran around the darkened area, looking for an opportunity to stab him. She knew the corrosive properties of that purple blood, so she made an effort to avoid it at all costs.

However, all her expectations were shaken when she saw that her opponent turned her body towards her. She saw everything in slow motion, not believing that it would be possible for this to happen, after all, everything was dark.

'Impossible! How did- 'Those were her last sober thoughts.

Despite not knowing what Ruby was doing, Lucas knew where she was and that was enough. He raised his hand and shot the little purple cloud. Under his strong control, the cloud flew at high speed and hit the girl's right shin.

Ruby had never been seriously injured in her life, even after the beam and the mutants, she at best suffered a few scratches. But now, the pain she felt when the little cloud touched her reached far greater degrees of pain.

She immediately fell to the ground and dug her nails close to the wound, in a desperate attempt to stop the pain or get away from it, her scream was agonizing. Unfortunately, it didn't help, all the darkness in the arena retreated, Ruby was in no condition to do anything but try to stop the excruciating grief.

The blackness left the futsal court and finally everyone could see what was happening. Immediately their gazes were fixed on the figure of the girl lying on the ground screaming, before her beauty was contagious, but now her torture hid all traces of her beauty.

Everyone could see how the purple gas corroded her white skin, even the red blood evaporated and reached other parts of her body. Almost everyone was paralyzed, the scene of the flesh dissolving into a muddy paste and the blood evaporating was too much even for doctors, even Lucas was stunned by the result of his attack.

The only one who moved was Roberto, the black-handed trainer, apparently his time in the army helped him to think fast and act accordingly. He ran to a nearby liter of water and took it to the girl on the ground, he carefully poured small amounts over the wound, which already covered nearly four inches of calf.

Ruby was almost fainting from the pain, her screams could be heard from outside the training area, drawing the attention of whoever passed by and bringing in some curious looks. Lucas finally came out of his stupor and ran to help her, he was very desperate and worried. He did his best not to hurt her, but he didn't achieve that goal, in fact, it was the complete opposite.

'Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" He was cursing himself in his mind. Everything he didn't want happened.

He dispersed his purple armor and used all his concentration to control his mutation, he first made his purple blood immediately come out of the wound. This stopped the corrosion, but it didn't stop her blood from evaporating, as some of his blood mixed with Ruby's blood. The water helped with that, but it wasn't enough to stop it. He might as well draw the mixed blood out of her, but he was so desperate he didn't think about it.

Ruby couldn't stand the pain anymore and passed out, the wound already showed bone, he was even a little cracked. Her screams stopped, but the room was not silent. Screams and more screams sounded from the arena, they said:

"Morgana! Call Morgana!!"

"Morgana! Morgana!"

They all called to Morgana, but suddenly a loud voice echoed in their ears.

"LUCAAAAS!!" Lucas would recognize that voice if he wasn't so focused on helping Ruby. A young man in his mid-twenties ran towards the court, he was tall and with shaved hair, beside him a few beams and cut pieces of metal floated.

Ace saw everything that had happened since darkness covered the arena. He happened to be passing by when he saw that black space, so he moved closer to get a better look. Not even 10 seconds passed and Ruby was already on the ground screaming. He was also terrified of what he saw and stagnated in place.

He only came back to his senses when Lucas drew his corrosive blood from the wound, in that moment he felt only pure anger and hatred. He and Ruby had rescued Lucas on the road, supported him, but how did he pay him back? Ruby was now injured and passed out.

He ran, the 3 metal beams were less than 2 meters long and 20cm wide and the other pieces of metal were mostly scraps. Ace opened his arms and made the pieces of metal hover at his sides and the beams above. Since his target was close to Ruby, he had to be careful.

Therefore, he used one of the beams, which he could better control, as the first attack. The beam flew at high speed and Lucas, who was still lost in his thoughts looking for a solution to help the girl on the ground, didn't notice anything until a massive impact hit his chest.

The iron beam hit him full in the chest on the right side, cutting through him and throwing him more than 10 feet away from his original position. Seeing that Lucas was away from Ruby, Ace controlled all the flaps and the other two remaining beams to converge on Lucas. With a war cry, he moved all at once, hitting his target squarely again.
