The guard was forced to his knees as I stood before him. Around me, the bodies of the dead guards were strewn about. The giant deer-like beast slowly looked around, surveying the scene while the painted dolls continued to smile as they held down the guard. The people who had been set free were far too terrified to move. Only the sound of the older woman sobbing could be heard in the courtyard.
The guard chuckled in a demeaning tone mixed with fear, "Of course it's you. Here to save your people."
I looked down at him with hatred in my eyes, "They are not my people."
He sneered at me, "Then why'd you save them? Hmm?"
"Because they are human."
"Then why'd you kill us?"
"That should be obvious."
He frowned, "If it was, then why would I ask?"
"They are human. You are not."
He snarled out, "If anyone isn't human it is those trash! They are just a waste of resources! They should have been killed years ago!"
