The next morning, Kaito and I ate the leftovers from the night before. We continued deeper into the forest for the perfect location to defend and turn into a base camp.
Korph always told me that nobody dared to go in too far because it was far too dangerous. The Dragon clan patrolled the outer boundary of the Forbidden Forest to ensure the beasts didn't escape to wreak havoc on the nations. Apparently, there were unimaginable beasts deep in the forests that no one had ever seen. Or at least, no one alive that is.
It wasn't a lie either.
The further we ventured, the more dangerous the beasts became. As I prepared to fight them, they quickly turned tail and ran. The child laughed, "You told me it would be dangerous, but as long as I stay by your side, I will be perfectly fine. They are terrified of you!"
My face twitched.
Aren't they supposed to be frightening demonic beasts? So why are they running from me!?
