"Ahhhhh, it feels so good to finally take a break from the arena and all of my fans" I stretch my arms and look over at Jane who is similarly lounging on a beach chair next to me while reading a book.
"Well, you don't look like you hate it when you win in front of the same fans that you're complaining about". Jane says as she smirks and looks up from her book to look at me with her dark brown eyes.
Jane was my best friend and the only person that I could lean on ever since I started my career as a pro gamer. We grew up together at the orphanage and had an equal interest in video games, leading to her becoming my strategist that was clean and calculating with everything she does. Along with my rise in fame in the pro-gaming world, she also rose in fame and people started called her The All-Seeing Eye of SolarCraft.
"Of course, the All-Seeing eye knows all~", I retort with a smirk.
"Come on Max! you know I hate that name!" She replied with a laugh
"To be honest, I feel kind of lost…I have already achieved everything I dreamed about. I won the competitions, made the money, and gained freedom. But now I feel like there is nothing else worth doing". I look to Jane, embarrassed by my display of vulnerability.
Jane stares at me with a determined look in her eye, "Hey, no matter what happens I will be right here next to you. As long as we work together I am sure that we can get through anything". I get lost in those beautiful eyes imagining a future where we grow old together, a future where we…"Hey? Are you there?"
I snap out of my daydream, "Y-yeah, I just feel like the future doesn't look as bad anymore" I say with a bright smile
She smiles back and says with a chuckle, "you don't have to worry that much, just enjoy the break".
While staring at her I notice something flashing in the corner of my vision. "Hey what's that?" I walk towards this shining mark only to find that there is a glowing line in the sand.
"Where did this come from?" Jane asks.
"The better question", I point out "is where does it lead?"
