Chapter 40 - Promoted

Fuyu's appearance disrupted Ryoshi's peaceful slumber, nudging him awake with a sense of urgency.

"Hey, Ryoshiiii," Fuyu whispered, rousing him from his sleep.

Ryoshi groggily responded, his voice laden with drowsiness. "Eeh, yea?"

With a gentle insistence, Fuyu urged him to rise, emphasizing the importance of the day ahead.

"Get up! Today's a big day," Fuyu insisted, nudging Ryoshi once more.

Grudgingly, Ryoshi acquiesced, reluctantly leaving the comfort of his bed to follow Fuyu outside. There, he found Toruri sprawled out on the grass, still lost in sleep, while Kuroshi leaned against a tree engrossed in a book.

Fuyu wasted no time in delivering the news. "I've gathered the three of you to happily tell you all that ya'll have been promoted to Mamoru by the decision of the great ones."

Ryoshi's initial reaction was one of resignation. "Good, great, bye," he muttered, eager to return to his rest.

But Fuyu had other plans. "Hold your horses! Today you guys start missions!"

Ryoshi's expression soured at the prospect. "Pleeeaaase don't tell me that we have a mission right now," he pleaded.

Fuyu reassured him that there were no immediate missions, but emphasized that they would soon be undertaking Purotekuta-level tasks, given their status as seasons Mamoru.

Toruri, ever eager for action, chimed in with enthusiasm. "So what do we do? Beat up a bunch of bad guys? I do that all the time!"

Fuyu confirmed Toruri's assumption, prompting Ryoshi to express his surprise at the revelation.

"I thought you would say something like, you guys save cats from trees until you're a higher rank," Ryoshi remarked, incredulous.

Fuyu's response was simple yet intriguing. "That's what the other Mamoru's do, but since you're seasons Mamoru, you get Purotekuta level stuff."

With their conversation concluded, Ryoshi retreated back indoors, Toruri returned to his slumber, and Kuroshi disappeared into the forest.

Observing their reactions, Fuyu couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction. "Hm, Ryoshi does have it," he mused, perhaps recognizing potential in his young proteges.
