Betty spent the whole day running errands for Mayan to the point that she became so exhausted.
"Mayan... am tired just let me rest" she sobbed. Mayan felt like stressing her more but when he saw her tear up he decided to punish her in another way.
"Come and sit," he said gesturing for her to sit next to him. She obeyed.
He turned on the television.
"Let us watch the news"
"News?!"
Mayan didn't reply her
"Can't we watch something more interesting?"
Mayan raised a brow. With his other arm, he took the remote and put on the news. It was barely up to five minutes and Betty had dozed off. Mayan woke her up
"Don't fall asleep!"
She struggled to keep her eyes open but every time she tried she still fell. On her last attempt, she almost fell asleep when she heard a familiar name.
"Sir phoenix could you tell us why your wife isn't here to witness this thrilling event for her son," a reporter asked
Betty became fully awake as her focus was now on the man shown on the screen dressed in a blue suit corresponding with the little boy beside him
"We're divorced," he said plainly
"But why?" another asked. Phoenix ignored him and answered the other questions thrown to him by the crowd about his son.
"It seems your son has his role model as Doctor Dilan"
"Yes he does"
"Does he wish to become a medical doctor like him too?"
"Why don't you ask him?"
"Sir Sajan what would you want to become in next years to come"
"I want to be like my father" the boy replied.
nix smiled faintly at the boy.
"Are you okay?" Mayan asked. He was shocked to see the man he hated most in his life appear on the news with his son. He had been stealing glances from Betty but her expression remained blank.
She nodded
"I'm fine"
"So you're not bothered about his son or wife?"
"Are you done torturing Me?" she asked. He wanted to say something but the words were caught in his throat before he could even let them out
When she got no reply she stood up and left him
She went to the shower and had a warm bath. She dried her hair and slid into her night dress.
"I want to be like daddy"
"We're divorced" these words kept ringing in her head. She could still remember vividly the day that Nix's son hugged him and all the sweet words he had showered on her that day before they had gone out. She remembered the last time she had seen his face when she showed up at his wedding and the commotion she had caused. Before she left she had seen when nix beat up his bride on his wedding day....and she was sure of something -he loved her very much. But did she love him? she didn't know
She waved off those thoughts from her head. She hated the fact that she had to see him again or even remember her past life with him. It brought up an unbearable pain in her heart, though she had learned to live with it tortured her emotionally. She had kept herself busy with working at the motherless babies home, and it helped a lot in making those children happy and brought a sense of joy to her heart.
All she wanted was a new start....a new life without him.
"And am going to get it"
