Chapter 20 - the meaning of "hero"

peona: "well being a hero is all about bringing peace and justice to the world, right? I mean, how did the world ever survive without one?"

rapald: "I and my mom used to play heroes all the time, so now I want that to be it, just a game so no one ever has to worry about anything anymore, I want the world to be filled with peace and prosperity"

jack: "well heroes are meant to keep everyone safe if I can't do that, what's the point? I mean, why even be alive if you're not gonna help people"

petunia: "well it's to preserve the beauty of the world! why else? I mean nature is beautiful! so we need to preserve it at all costs!"

lemali: "being a hero is about justice and protecting the innocent! if you cant do that why even be a hero? I remember as a kid loving heroes and villains are just that! villans! I'm going to make sure no one will have to go through any pain ever!"

"Sir," one of the spokesmen asks "these five seem fine, but the last one is where we're concerned"

"show it, the clip"

marsh: "heroes don't exist they are a construct of peoples minds to protect them from being hurt and feel safe, the death rate has never been higher, and yet all they are is numbers on a screen, at least until you are affected, that's why we need actual competent people and not delusional idealists"

"see the issue?"

"no... I don't!" his eyes sparkle

"This is the type of person we might just need to wake people up!"

"i-i see, shall we air it to the masses"

"only in one city first, then we see the reactions of the people if they like it, air it, if they don't, give them time to get used to it"

{power: strong intuition}

"Understood sir!"

...

in that short period of time, the masses loved it dumbfounding heroes and students alike, to think that such a pessimistic viewpoint would make the people hopeful of the future, it was unpredictable, and yet it stirred the hearts of the people, they wanted more, they needed more, the BEGGED for more, so "marsh" as he was called by his peers became more active as a hero, even getting gifts from people, which he found interesting, be it money or food, but one object stuck out, a monster organ, this sprung up curiosity in marsh

he ate it right away and felt the change, and he was noticed, the media had a field day with this, claiming he was using drugs or some other type of enhancer, news outlets though were usually discredited as being fake news as they were always looking for a way to bring down the new hero, in time he became a household name and he graduated, inspiring hundreds to make heroes not just a protective term but a real tangible thing
