Chapter 3 - The New World

The first person to step off the ship when landing is a handsome young man with black hair, hazel eyes and brown skin. That young man is the new Chief scientist and Head Commander Marcus. He looks at the unique trees and flowers that are in the surrounding area and breathes in the fresh clean air. For the first time in a while he has a genuine smile on his face. 'This place will be perfect for everyone. The air is clean and there are new resources here that I'm sure would do us some good for our survival. But this time we need a way to make sure that this planet doesn't get ruined do to greed.' he said inwardly with a thoughtful gaze on his face. 'I need people I can truly trust.'

Everyone else came off the ship an looked around the area around their ship. Some people admired the multitude of new flowers and trees while others checked for threats and tested the natural resources. Marcus went off on his own to do further checks in the surrounding for anything dangerous.

Marcus close friend Iesha and Doctor Stephon helped around the ship and checking progress on the tests of the resources. "Doctor Stephon the tests on the soil is complete and it seems we can plant our crops here." one of his assistants said. "The water is also good for us to use for anything we need." another said. "Thank you." Stephon said as he nodded his head to them. He looked at a couple plants and started scanning them.

Iesha helped the military group check around for any dangerous creatures or plants near their landing point. "Lets make four groups. Go in each direction from the ship for about one hundred miles and if you come in contact with anything that you can't handle come back here immediately and report it once u have a problem. If you can't get back here call for back up. I will go with the North bound group so lets get going." The four different groups then proceded to head in the North, South, East and West directions in groups of 10 with North group having 11 with Iesha. 'I wonder where Marcus went?' she thought to herself.

Doc. Steph studied a couple of the plants he scanned. They were poisonous yet medicinal at the same time, the problem is how to extract the poison without killing them. 'I'm gonna need Marcus to help with figuring out the best out of the three ways i can think of.' Steph thinks to himself. "Start setting up the temporary camp, we need to be prepared for anything." The crew take out crates from the ship and get to work. Stephon heads back onto the ship to check on the charging of the drones. 'Fifty percent charged. Should be full in two more days.' he thinks.

East group-

"How big do you guys think this planet is because i doubt we can will be able to search half of it in two years." "Why dont you focus on the task we are doing right now?" two people from East group spoke. "We just covered fifteen miles out of the hundred we have to cover and i'd like to finish before dark. Even if we don't encounter any creatures during light out we might be in trouble if we have to deal with creatures adapted for night hunts." said another. "Well lets pick up our pace then."

South group-

"How far you think the other groups have gotten?" a slim woman asks. "Maybe fifteen or twenty miles." the group leader answers. "We might be the fastest of the groups since there aren't much trees this way. We have sixty miles left to go so keep your eyes open and all your senses alert." "Yes sir!" The South group used their special float boots to explore faster since there're not many trees on their path. The shoes have an anti-grav function that lets them walk just above the ground and propels one forward at a decent speed making traveling somewhat faster by foot.

West group-

The group is currently scanning the cluster of flowers that they have found. The flowers change color due to temperature, time of day and what is currently near it. "These are interesting flowers and they are medicinal without any poison inside. They should be useful later, should we pick some?" a nurse asks. This is the same nurse Marcus bumped into on the ship. "Yes. If they only give benefits then there should be no harm in picking them just be careful with the roots Naomi." The leader of the group answers nurse Naomi. The group starts harvesting the flowers.

North group-

Iesha and the group got fifty miles before they came across their first obstacle. A giant snow white colored bear that stood six feet tall on all fours and stood nine feet tall on its hind legs. "Well this is definitely a problem. How do we get past this thing without angering it?" one of the soldiers asked Iesha. "I'm not sure. But for now it doesn't seem to care bout us so we can either try to continue on or just go back while reporting about it on our way back. So do any of you think we should risk it and try to pass?" she asked looking at everyone of her group. Everyone looked at each other for a moment before turning back to Iesha shaking their heads in reluctance.

"Alright then lets make a report and head back, but first lets scan it with the long range scanner." Iesha says agreeing with the group before scanning the bear. After scanning the bear they send a report back to the ship and inform the other groups to do the same.

In the Southwestern area about two hundred miles from the ship Marcus is still walking around seemingly following something. 'Where is it taking me?' Marcus questions himself while following a feeling he has to go further in the forrest. He walked to an area that had massive purple trees in a circle surrounding a glimmering blue pond. "This is a nice area, but i can't help but wonder why is the pond blue and not purple-ish like the ocean?" he thinks out loud.

At this moment the identical mutation starts reacting giving Marcus the feeling to sit in the pond and the mutation on his heart glows a bright blue along with the pond. Marcus stares at the pond in shock and awe thinking that he now has a better understanding of the mutation. 'So the mutations required special properties to keep it from killing a person. Was this always the case or is it just with my mutation? And why this specific planet first?' he thought.

He walks into the pond and sits in it. His heart mutation and the pond shine brighter and he falls unconscious slipping into his past memories again.
