I stood up, alerted by all the shouting that happened. So did the rest of my family.
But Uncle Jess made a stopping gesture and said "Don't rush to the open if you don't want to be slaughtered with bullets."
That caught our attention and was an effective way of stopping all of us.
"What's happening?" Mom asked Uncle Henry.
"We need to go to the office. We have security cameras all over the place." Uncle Henry responded with grimness.
"Jeff and Ed, both of you stay here and guard the ladies and Mr. Kempt. No matter what happens do not go near windows or any part of the house that would make a live target." Dad commanded.
"We will be right back, we just have to check the situation outside." Uncle Henry assured all of us.
I looked at Ashton who was still fast asleep. Not aware of the commotion that was happening outside.
