I looked at the guys and saw that they also felt something did not add up.
"What was that?" Jeff asked with a laugh but his eyes were dead serious.
I shrugged but my mind was trying to puzzle the things that I just saw. When I was not able to make any sense of it at all I decided to let it be for now and dove right back to my tasks.
I noticed Ericka was a little gloomy and haggard when they went back. A complete contrast to how John was, who was smiling from ear to ear. She even shot me a look full of resentment when she felt my eyes on her. She was limping slightly too.
I looked at Ed and saw that he was quietly observing them also. Jeff was asked by another writer to go with her for an ocular visit to one of the settings of her book.
The day ended with no other weird incidents. As usual, the four of us went home. Jeff said that dinner will be at his place so we had a few hours of free time.
