"Did you see who left it here?"
"No." I answered. "When I came back from lunch, the dahlia was already on my desk."
Ed looked absolutely livid while Jeff paced behind him.
"He knows that we left," Jeff muttered. "That's why he chose to leave it here."
I saw someone move behind Jeff and Ed in a sneaky manner, then John's face came into full view. I can't understand his expression though. He looked at Ed with hatred and amusement. It seemed like he wanted to see Ed suffer more than me.
"What's happening?" John asked, living up to his nosy, weird guy reputation.
"Well, it seemed like lover boy here left Helena a black dahlia. I just told them that it means evil."
"Black dahlia?" John came to my table and looked at the flower. "Well, it can also mean wealth, elegance. Sometimes it's also used to express love and involvement."
