Dad received a collective gasp and different reaction from the word he uttered. Then mom turned to me with a horrified look on her face.
"Torment?" she whispered. "That absurd, Matthew! Who on earth would do that to Helena?"
"She has done nothing to deserve this dad!" Bry shouted. I was not even aware that she was in the room.
When I looked around, I saw her huddled in a corner and seemed to be hiding behind Jeff. They were still both wearing what they wore the day before.
