"Hate you?" she whispered back. "Don't get me wrong Helena, I don't hate you."
"If you don't hate me, then why are you doing this to me?" I whispered, my voice breaking because of trying to hold my tears back.
I just can't understand her anger towards me. No matter how hard I think of the past, I have never done anything to her to merit this kind of treatment. She even called my family a bunch of thieves. Why would she do that?
I remembered mom saying that she knew Mrs. Kempt from way back. I wonder how long that was? What could have possibly happen to Mrs. Kempt? Was she always like this?
"Why? Because I loathe you." she hissed. "I loathe you and your family."
I saw my mother pale.
"What did I ever do to you?" mom whispered. "I treated you well when we were younger."
