Ed's comment stumped whatever arguments Bryanna had in her mind. She looked like realization just dawned on her. She bowed her head in embarrassment when she realized that she was being utterly foolish and naive.
"I'm sorry, I should have thought about it better."
"No Bry, you don't have to apologize. I too did not think about it that way," I said trying to pacify her.
She looked at me and I knew that she believed my words. I prayed that she would never find out that I actually lied at this moment just to make her feel better.
"So what should we do?" Bry asked. "Where would we sleep?"
"Helena will sleep with me and you will stay with Jeff." Ed suggested which made me look at him sharply.
"I won't do anything, sweetheart. I promise." Ed even raised his fingers in scout's honor.
"Won't do anything, my butt." Bry scoffed with a laugh.
